Hi all,
I just got a new receiver - Marantz. I have noticed that when the screen mode changes, I tend to get a thump from the sub (an el cheapo Jamo).
I do have a really long HDMI cable to the Projector (about 10m I think), so I am wondering if this could just be a receiver problem or maybe the circuits tht protect from this sort of thing aren't protecting long enough or something.
I don't remember having this problem with my previous sony amp.
Any ideas?

the projector should have nothing to do with your subwoofer. Is the sub hooked to the RCA Sub out on your receiver and have you calibrated everything to the same SPL dB's? When you say screen mode, are you talking about the receiver setup screens, or the projector screens?

I think by screen mode, he means when an HDMI handshake occurs. Sounds like the receiver doesn't mute properly when this occurs. I'd have a look around the AVS forum for an "official" thread about this receiver, and see if anyone else is reporting the same, and if there's a fix. Could be as simple as a firmware update.
