No no - I've seen this before. He'll be okay. New to WA are the beers from Firestone Walker Brewing in Paso Robles, CA. I've heard really great things about their IPA, but was not able to acquire one yet. I DID really enjoy their Pale 31 American Pale Ale last night. It was very fresh and wonderfully balanced. There was not a lot of residual sweetness from the fermentation, which enabled the relatively modest 38 IBU worth of hops to stand out and shine. A surprisingly flavorful and enjoyable beer, especially at only 4.6% ABV. Highly recommended.

I just convinced my former (and Ken's current) boss to buy a ticket to the beer dinner and attend with me. He's a good food/drink companion, so it should be fun.

We expect you to tell him all sorts of embarrassing stories about Ken while you are there.

All this talk about beer is making me thirsty.
Anyone for a glass of wine?

Tom, Firestone - their Double Barrel Ale, in particular - has been a popular one down here for years. Based on the ones I've had (3-5 styles, I forget) I would agree that they tend towards the dry side, herbal hops featured. I don't buy them, but a friend does.
Last night I had Jake to myself while the old lady was at night school. So we went to happy hour at a local brewery, of course. The waitress was not amused, I fear.
Anyways, BJs porter is still one of my all-time fave beers. Black as night, persistent dense head of foam, creamy mouth feel, chewy malt flavors, drying bitterness from burnt barley, with a long finish balanced between malt sweetness and black patent. I think they use nitrogen from the tap, too. Very corporate place nowadays, but that beer is still divine, based on last nights sample.
Never been disappointed with their porter.
