 upgrading from m22 to m60's/m80's?

currently I am running m22's with an ep500 sub. Would it be worth it to upgrade to the m60's/M80's?

I have never heard the m22's so I can't really comment. However, I really do love my m80's.
From what I've read if you really like the detail of your m22's then you should either a.) stick with m22's or b.) upgrade to m80's. They say the m60's have a more laid back sound so you may not like the switch if you've grown to love the m22's.
since you are running a sub tho you might not notice a huge difference... how big is your room?

All the talk is always about the M22s, M60s and M80s. I've also heard people asking about the M2s and M3s... I never hear anyone talk about the M50s... poor M50s must be so sad and lonely. I wonder how many Axiom *actually sells* Maybe when I pull the trigger in a couple weeks I'll get the 50s. Consider it a mercy purchase. Or perhaps I'll do it jsut to spite you all! Nah. Who am I kidding. I'll get the M22s. Is there more coffee? I think I might need some.  snazzed

I made that jump and to me it was worth it. I find the extra mid-bass the M80's provide over the M22/sub enhances my HT experience and music listening. I wouldn't move to the M60s, as I found they do not add that much extra midbass over the M22/sub combo, at least not enough for the price difference between them, IMO. Don't get me wrong the M60s do add more to the equation than just the M22/sub but not quite enough to warrant the cost of upgrading.

the 22's and a good sub sound great in our upstairs living room. The 60's and 80's will help fill in the mid bass regions around the crossover point for an overall killer sound.

Ha, ha, yes, the poor old M50. Actually we sell a fair number, mainly to customers who report that they have a really bright reflective room with tile floors, tons of glass, hard reflective walls, no rugs, etc.
The M50's "laid-back" midrange is better suited to the above, where the danger of a more detailed speaker might be an exaggeration of mids and treble.
As to the poor M50, don't even ask about the deceased M40, which we killed off without ceremony after I joined Axiom.

Summary:
Have been pretty happy with the M40s. Did not audition and went stictly on what I'd read online; was not disappointed. Not the last set of speakers you'll ever buy but an excellent starter if you're on a budget.
Strengths:
Works great with tubes. Produces a very smooth, warm, laid back sound. Titanium tweeter produces very clear, detailed highs. Superb with vocals and acoustic work. ZERO listening fatigue. Price.
Weaknesses:
Not for bass freaks. Maybe a little too laid back for some people. Long break-in period (for me @ 3 months) before things settled down.

hey thanks for the advice all and website terzaghi. Yep its my bday just turned 24...man I'm getting old  Also been looking at amps and was thinking of the emotiva xpa-5. Will there be any noticeable difference from my yamaha rx-v1900 (130W per channel)

There have been some people that have had problems with emotiva and the m80's so watch out.

If I already had the M22 and a sub, I don't know that I would upgrade. $1200 buys a lot of Big Macs, or ups the budget for a nice display unit, or buys a lot of good beer... I found that listening to the M22 + sub was very very similar to the M60, only with noticably more bass. Given the price of the M22 + stands, I found extra cost of the M80 worth it. I'm sure that was all very unhelpful. Thank you Mark.

Jovon, Happy Birthday! All I can add is that I'm delighted with my M22s and EP500, and can't imagine needing something bigger except in the very largest listening rooms with a correspondingly long listening distance.

If M60s have a more laid back sound, I doubt it's noticeable without a test that involved instant switching. M50s are much more laid back, and that's hard to tell without listening hard.

I listened to all 3 for close to 2 hours at Axiom and had lots of opportunity to A/B all the combinations. You can hear differences in a direct comparison, but all three are sonically very very close. $1,200 could buy you a lot of good music and some really nice concert tickets.

I let upgradeitis get the better of me and bought M60s and they were, IMO, not upto my M22's clarity/forwardness. So I auditioned a set of M80s and had a some fun A/Bing between the M22's, M60's, M80s, had I not done the direct comparison I do not believe I would have noticed nearly as much difference, only that the M80s are better suited to my listening tastes.
