Bought Onkyo 797, found "small" and "none" setting for surround L+R but no "large", is it just the way it is or my unit is broken, can any one here who owns/owned Onkyo help?

Hi BIG
I recently picked up an Onkyo 797. Mine gives me the choice of L or S for front, center, rear and back speakers. My choice for subwoofer is Y or N.

Big,
You didn't mention the center and main channels... do you have the option for L or S there? If so, it may default to the same setting choice for the surrounds that you set up for the front. If I pick S for the fronts in my 600, the center and surrounds can't be L ; the 600 makes you pick S for everything if you pick S for fronts. I haven't messed with L, but from the manual, it looks like you might be able to pick L for the fronts and S for the others, but you definitely can't pick S for the fronts and L for the rest. Good Luck!

2x6spds,
Thank you for looking it up.
Lando622,
you are right, if I set the front to small, it would only give me the choice of small or none. Thanks.
;-)
What happened to the good old days when there were only 4 knobs on the amp? (power, volume, source, and tone)
