Hi I just received my new axioms, and I am wondering do most people leave the speaker grilles on or off. Is there a difference? New to the home theater world, aside from HT in a box. Ended up going with M60 fronts, VP150 center, EP500, and four QS8. I will be using for mainly blue ray, satellite tv, and video games, if that makes a difference for grille or no grill.

Hi gianq, it's up to you, just a personal preference thing.

Gianq, what Adrian is saying is that the grills are for cosmetic purposes and wont have any acoustic effect. (at least that is what i got from his comment)

Thanks guys. I was just wondering. Also is it possible to take off the grilles on the qs8. They seem on there pretty good.

Mine comes down to WAF. In that sense, there is a difference with grills on or off.

Mine stay on both due to WAF (wife appreciation factor) and personal preference. I like the minimalist look of a smooth black grill. I find it less distracting.

First time I have heard that one and love it.

Argon, my apologies as I forgot about the acoustical qualities being severely degraded if for some reason a nasty shrill appears with poor WAF.

Yeah, the grill covers make excellent scratching posts.

Well...... As to whether or not WVa is Southern, I suppose that depends on who you are talking to....

That was my original fear, but so far, they've been ignored. When I first got my M22's I sprayed something the cat would, hopefully, find stinky, such as Windex, but stopped because she ignored them anyway. (At least when I was looking \:\))

I've never had problems with my cats and the grill covers. My wife did veto Magnepans because of that, though.

Not that I have ever scraped together enough money to get Maggies, but...

Hi. It's good to be here. Technically, I'm not a southerner. I moved to West Virginia after college last year to take a job. I really like the area though. Also, I have no wife or animals, so I'm thinking I might take mine off. I think the speakers look pretty sweet with the grilles off. This forum is awesome also. Lots of topics and good info. Thanks everyone for the replies.

Well some items I didn't know about till I moved to the south, does WV have these:

SunDrop?

Cheerwine?

Livermush?

Goodie's Powder?

People speaking english you can't understand? (alright I'll give you this one!)

And is 42 cents referred to as "42 cent"?

Do you push or "Mash" a button?

Does a hotdog or hamburger come with coleslaw as a default?

Is a shopping cart a "buggie"?

If you go to a friends house for drinks, do they pour a little in a spoon and light it on fire first to see which color it burns before you drink it, to make sure it wasn't made in a radiator and will kill ya? (Okay I'll give you that one too!)

Are there Dentists in WV?

Well that's enough for the first round.

clothes? CLOTHES? In my wallet, I have condoms older than some guys around here! They're made from chitlins. They have Teddy Roosevelt on the wrapper. They're called Rough Riders!

Crap! I got bunyons older than these hoodsies.
(Honestly, I don't even know what those are, but I'm sure I will----sooner than most of you--nyah, nyah.) Whoa! It's past my bedtime. Wait, that's right. "Q-tips" are all hyperkinetic.

If you live in Hearst Ontario anything south of Sudbury is southern.

In Canada, the further north you go, the per capita tooth count diminishes. In America, it's south. At least 'til ya git past "Dew Country!"

She's a multifunctional life saver.

1. grab on to her if you're drowning- she'll float.
2. put her on your lap in the car- double air bag system.

Alas, I can't access while at work.....

As for Southern and Goodys Powders - This is the heart of NASCAR Country 'round heah - The King (The old King) lives about an hour from my house and Kevin Harvick (sp.?) lives about a mile from my house - a particularly gawdy mansion too.

That's the house with the circular driveway, isn't it?
