I was looking for a multiple cd / dvd changer to add to my system. This is more a convince thing for me. I would like it to house at least 100 disks, and I could handle up to 400. I looked at the Sony DVP-CX985V quite closely, and it plays just about every format except DVD-A, which I could live without. It's 400 disks but a bit big for my shelves.
Dose anyone have any experience with this unit or similar ones? Or better yet, suggestions on maybe a better unit.
This will be played through my H/K AVR 525 hooked up to my Axiom 5.1 system.

Nick, I use similar CD only megachangers and I'd never again consider getting a single-disc player. As far as a CD/DVD megachanger at a reasonable price(around $350), the Sony 985 is about it(the 777ES costs twice as much). If you haven't already done so, read the test report in the September issue of Sound&Vision.

I have the Sony DVP-CX975. It is a good player but the disc management is slow and a bit frustrating. I believe the 985 will operate similarly. I would consider getting a new 777ES on ebay for around $660 shipped or the 985 for a little more than half. They look very similar. I have a Pioneer elite 100 disc cd player on another system. It is much faster for playing cd's but doesn't have the disc explorer feature that shows up on screen. With 400 discs this is a valuable feature though slow to operate.
