Blast, Mel made the joke better than I did. I really do like the VP180 stand, though.

Wow amazing room. Do the speakers sound a little too warm with that fireplace at the front?

Thanks eveyone, I would love to get a 2nd EP500, if only for cosmetic reasons, but my wife won't let me, too expensive.
Maybe I should call Noreen and ask if I could get an EP500 shell, with no driver or amp and put it where the stove is (just to balance the room).
That stove really doesn't belong there, but the room is in the basment and can get a bit of a chill in the winter, the stove (electric) takes the edge off.
I did however notice a marked improvement in sound after putting up the sound panels onthe walls and ceiling. I never thought the M80's were harsh, but the panels did warm up the sound a bit and really helps with imaging. When listening to music, by eyes and ears are telling me my center channel is on, even when I know it isn't. I find my self walking up to the center and listening, and on some occasions even unplugging it.

Room is 16 x 23 x 9.
Screen is 137" in 16x9
Audio Trak 6 ch amp is bridged into 3ch and rated at 4ohm stable at 300 wpc for L C R speakers.
I can get 105 db on the SPL meter with out the amp breaking a sweat. However my ears are a different story.
We are in a 3.5 year old custom build house. When I designed the floorplan for the house, I started with this room first, then designed the rest of the house around it. Kids bedrooms are on the toher side of the house.
Also room has no windows and the curtain at the back of the room hides a door to the garage / shop.
If any of you guys are ever in the London area, give me a shout, and stop buy for a listen.

If any of you guys are ever in the London area, give me a shout, and stop buy for a listen. I was just thinking that very thing! Should be in London in a couple of weeks. I really wanted to hear the VP180 at the get together, but there really was no opportunity.

Beautiful room/system, Paul. The different coloured dust caps, surprisingly don't really look "out of place" together.

Adrian - I was as supprised as you were about the silver dust caps matching with the black ones. I usually keep the grills on. For the record I really do love the magnetic grills!
Rick - Thanks, it does have more of a presence than my VP150. Again, I still like the 150 and think it is a great speaker, but it's not an M80 and the VP180 is like an M80 on its side. No more thin(ner) sounding male voices!
Dave - Thanks and yes, I think I have tweaked the room to get just about the best these speakers can sound, which is truely amazing relative to what I have spent, relative to competitive speakers on the market.
Rob - I'll get some close up pics of my home made riggers tomorow.
Thanks
paul

For the record I really do love the magnetic grills! They're such an elegant solution. Makes you wonder why nobody thought of it years ago.

How strong are the magnetic grills? Would they stand up to, say, a 3 year old with a grudge?

Why does he have a grudge? did you scoff money out of his piggy bank again?

The magnets are much stronger than I thought they would have been, but I think the 3 year old would eventually win.

Well, would the three year old win over the magnets more easily than the pegs?

Hmm. Interesting. I don't have the money or the political capital (or the rationale, really) right now to trade up to v3s, but maybe someday... you know, when I don't have a 3 year old any more. In, oh, ~4 years.

Oh, they'll definitely lose to a 7-year-old with a grudge.
Better buy the speakers now.

Man, that is one beautifully setup room. I hope one day I have the space to do a project like that. Great job.
