I got about halfway through Steamboy before the sleepies overtook me. Not that the movie was boring, no, I was really enjoying it, but it was well past my bedtime.

Just watched Witch Hunter Robin

Anime News Network

T.H.E.M.

This Anime reminds me a lot of “Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. 2nd GIG.” I say that because it moves at about the same pace with about the same mix of action and intrigue. The show is 26 episodes on 6 disks so it’s not a quick one evening watch but easily done on one weekend or day in my case because I just couldn’t stop watching.

The reviews above pretty much cover it well. A couple things I’d add is that the pace and intrigue both pick up after the 1st disk which is actually no slacker. Also the music is perfect. What I mean is you don’t even notice it. The music just blends in enhancing whatever is happening on the screen.

Unless you just cant stand watching regular storytelling in an animated form I highly recommend this series.

Just watched "Knowing" with Nicolas Cage.
A pretty interesting story/science fiction flick.

Sounds interesting. At first I couldn’t stand Nicolas Cage but I’ve liked his more recent roles.

I saw "Knowing" in the theater and really enjoyed it. I believe it caught a lot of flak for it's subject matter, or at least it's suggestions about a certain subject, but I found it very engaging and an interesting concept. Some extremely intense scenes in it.

Yeah, and normally I can't stand Nicolas Cage, but he was somewhat more palatable in this role.

Just finished watching “Blood + Part 1”

The Anime News Network

It’s 25 episodes spread over 5 disks, the 6th disk is bonus material. Something I neglected to read and expecting 5 more episodes tonight felt somewhat jilted. No U.S. DVD release date for part 2 yet but Netfix has it as a save selection.

Overall I’m liking this series but I’d give it an overall “B-” and not a “B+” like the reviewer above. Cut out some of the fluff and I’d bump it up to an “A-.” When this show is on It’s quite engrossing and the episodes fly by, but after each major story arc ends there is sort of an empty episode that does nothing to further the plot. Don’t want to skip them though just incase there’s something important. My other gripe is that occasionally there are to many flashbacks but this doesn’t happen to often. That said it’s more than interesting enough that I can’t wait for Part 2.

I do have to give it high marks for it’s location animation. Rather than relying on some famous landmark to indicate where you are the locations are done quite realistically. When I first started watching I thought the countryside and coastline looks a lot like Okinawa then the city starts looking like Okinawa city and sure enough it was. So far the rest of the locations similarly done.

So far it’s more than worth watching but you might want to wait until part 2 is available so you aren’t left hanging.

The mixed reviews of Knowing kind of worried me, so I haven't gone out of my way to see it, but I'll have to watch it at some point since some people REALLY seem to like it.

I watched Blood: The Last Vampire way back when it was first on DVD. I liked it all right, but of course thought it was too short. I may have to check this series out, just to see how different it is. Not that I'll really know, since I've forgotten most of Blood: The Last Vampire. Ha ha.
