Capn_Pickard's Basement HT

Hey all. Here are a few pics of the basement HT. This is "before" I paint the back wall behind the screen black/charcoal gray, which is set to happen later this week.

I've got a set of M60s in cherry and the QS8s in maple. The 6th and 7th speakers are some old beaters that I painted to match the ceiling. I might upgrade these at some later date with M2s.

The Projector is a Mitsubishi HC1500, which has a little under a 1000 hours on it. I love it, and even though it's only 720p, I find the picture (blu ray - dvd is a different story) to be nearly flawless blown up to 100".

The screen is an Elite screen. The VP100 is mounted on an Axiom custom FMS.

I'll put up some pics of my recent rack install later.

NB: This room is shared with the kids - their toys are usually littered around the space, with storage lining the walls. They have been kindly removed from the frame to avoid cluttering up the pics.

Me, too.

But I don't have a gigantic projection screen.

Captain,

Love the light maple/light grill combo. The day before the FO closed, I picked up 2 QS8v3 and 3 M2v3 in the same scheme.

Great setup BTW....

Thanks, W! The light maple is an underappreciated finish. It has its place, though, in certain applications. I special ordered the white grill covers to help them blend in a little less obtrusively on the walls.

A couple of years ago, I put together a HT for my downstairs neighbor who had a pretty swanky, modern apartment. I suggested she go with the cherry speakers and white grill covers. It was a really neat, unusual mix that was very contemporary and quite sophisticated. The wood sort of popped around the white grills.

Enjoy those speakers, by the way!

I have apparently tricked all of you into believing that this room is kept this clean. What I didn't photograph was the other half of the basement, which is full of kids' toys that overflow into this space, littering it with bits and pieces of tea sets and puzzle pieces, necessitating a twice weekly round up sessions from dad. I've got this hang up about watching a flick in a cluttered space - weird since you can't see any of it with the lights turned off.
