I'm sure this has been asked before, but I can't seem to find it...
What are the differences between the v2 and v3 versions of the M80?
Thanks, Matt

Depending on when the v2's were manufactured, they could have some v3 guts in them.

You would have to email or call Axiom with the serial # of the speaker and they could tell you.

Thanks Rick. Do you mean "could" tell me or "would" tell me?

I think it was gradual changes over time. The V2's that were manufactured closer to the release date of the V3's probably have all the guts, minus the magnetic grills. I don't think your going to find a schedule or anything that will tell you. Just call Axiom and give them the serial#, they can tell you, or email Noreen.

If that helps, I bought my M80sV2 in January of last year, the V3s were released in July and when I emailed Axiom with my serial numbers I got confirmation that all my parts were V3s, I am just missing the magnetic grills. Since I knew all my speakers after that were going to be V3s (VP180 and QS8s), I ended up changing my black and white drivers to the all aluminum so all speakers would look the same (except for the pin holes on the M80s )

Thanks, Bruno. Just emailed to find out. My M60's were made 2 months before your 80's.
Yes, that does help.

So if you bought some v3's today, how much of it would be v4's?

Actually, it is a good sign that Axiom is continually updating their products - stagnation is not good.
I don't know why I am posting this - it just popped into my head when I read this thread.

I'm just not sure I like the whole v1, v2, v3, v4, etc., model. I think it is assume that all manufacturers over time improve their product. This way it just brings up so much debate.

I do always think it's weird when a new model (such as the VP180) is brought out and designated as V3..... when there was no V1 or V2 previously. OTOH, if they brought it out and designated it as a V1, people would assume it was inferior and due for an upgrade. (I only pay attention to this because I'm keeping my eyes open for M100s and am unsure of which version they would be!)

Or if it was designated as a V1 and somebody was looking at V3 M80's, they might think it was a mismatch.

I thought the model was ti, then v2, then v3, and they called the v2 a v2.
I'd rather have a version number than just changing designs with no version number to tell them apart.
