Hello,
Hopefully this is the right sub-forum (no pun intended). I have the chance to pick up a used V2 Epic 80-500 [ M80 x 2, QS8 x 2, VP150x1, EP500x1) for CDN 2000. This set is 1.5 years old. is this "reasonable"? I have V3 M60/VP150 LCR and V3 QS8s and was saving up for a sub but thought it might be better to buy this epic set and sell mine off in parts. or should I keep what i have and just grab a sub? any suggestions on "testing" speakers? if it makes a sound it works? ![]() Thank you ![]() |

I was about to say that I thought you pretty much have everything you need so save up for a sub unless you really feel that you are missing the subtle differences you would get by trading up to the M80 from M60s.
However for the price, it might not be a bad idea to grab the set for $2000. You then get the excellent sub that you need, the M80 question will no longer nag you and can then sell the extra M60s, VP150, and QS8s and recoup even more money. This leaves you with an upgrade for your mains and a very nice new sub for very little money after all is said and done. I say, Do it! And if you don't send me the buyers info. ![]()

Those that have heard v2 vs. v3 say there is a difference but it is subtle. If you buy the v2 system I would try the VP150v2 and the VP150v3 with the M80s and stick with which ever sounds better to you. I doubt going to the v2 or v3 for the surrounds would be all that noticeable, but again try them and keep which ever sounds the best or go for a 7 channel set up. I would lean towards selling the v3s if the differences are negligible as you should be able to get a little more money for them.

If the speakers are in good shape, it is a really, really good deal! I wouldn't sweat the V2 vs V3 as if the system is only 1.5 years old, all the parts should already be V3s, the only thing you'll be missing is the magnetic grills.
I personally would go for it as you'll get the M80s upgrade + the sub almost for free. If you have the space and a bit of extra cash, I would sell the VP150 and upgrade to the VP180 and you'll have an amazing system at an amazing price.

I picked up the V2 set and now i'm going to sell my V3 kit.
what would be reasonable/fair asking prices: M60 v3 (pair) QS3 v3 (pair) VP150 v3 (single) all in boston cherry. ordered late november 2010, received in december 2010. lightly used for the 4 month's i've had them.. also I think i'll sell the v2 VP150 as well and move up to the VP180. does the Vp150 v2 have any value left on the used marketplace? I also have a FMS CC i can toss in with it, or sell separately i guess. too many possibilities!! are we allowed to talk about that here or is there a better forum? thanks ![]() |

Sami, it's against forum rules to post item's for sale; that's what the auction site is for. Even though you didn't mention a price, but rather asked for assistance on a viable one, you're still publicizing a sale.
Best of luck!

Good decision on picking up the system, congrats! how do you like the M80s so far? As for the price, if you're not in a rush, put them for sale at a high price and see what people come back with. With only 4 months old, I think you should be able to get at least 80% of the original value (keep in mind that the buyer will loose the warranty). Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback everyone.
I like the M80s, feels like they have a bit more 'range' and 'power'. but then that could be after the fact rationalization ![]() |
