Well, they have to be some of the ugliest speakers I've seen in a while. Talk about WAF - those are instant divorce! I might consider them if I was putting together a commercial system in one of those places where the ceilings are all painted black. Also, they are very expensive. The AVS thread had a post by a DSL representative that they were looking into a different product for the home market. That might open up their placement with the average HT/audio enthusiast.

Wow. His stuff is in some pretty impressive installations. I hope it sounds incredible.
Audiogon ads are pretty inexspensive and get lots of attention.

I smell spam troll... Who would want ugly ass PA gear in their domicile? Guys who hunt big game? In my house of worship it's gonna be Axiom. Or something much higher end. Perhaps different speaker technology like Magnaplaner or Ohm Walsh. And that's just for different flavors of audio. But Axiom still has the best bang for buck out there imho.

No troll, just another audio enthusiast. Axiom was bang for the buck hence the ownership of a full system minus sub. Building subs is a hobby of mine. I've just moved on to other things is all. It started with the kit DTS-10. The Axioms were great but disappeared at large volume levels of the dts10.

I guess you shoulodn't of wasted your money on great Home audio gear. You should have just bought the PA gear first. Loudness isn't everything and sure as hell not even the slightess reason why I am into home audio. Sounds, like my unknowledgable brother who thinks boom boom boom is everything, and bought a PA system. I kinda like my clarity, detail and accurate gear first, I have a PA for the band in the basement

No harm taken on this end. True the Danley equipment is on the large side and to some fugly. I see beauty in engineering of horn loading. Not the harsher Klispch speakers you find at the big box store. More like their Scala line. The Danley SM "60" series is geared toward dedicated space. A well adapted horn loaded speaker is actually more tonally correct, needs less power, and yes when needed can go to high volumes with the same clarity. You actually won't realize how loud it is because it still sounds good. Some who think theres a line in the sand for PA speakers should do a little more research. Another company is JTR. If you guys have large dedicated rooms I'd think your missing out . I'll say the same thing about the DTS-10 subwoofer. You won't find a sub with more clarity and volume at low and high levels than any sealed / ported sub on the market. Since we're all online, my best advice is do some online forum reading before forming opinions. While not avid poster, I'm also an AVSforum lurker. Still in the end we're all audio enthusiast, and I've enjoyed my Axiom ownership. Now I'm looking to pass the legacy to some lucky owner to continue to enjoy them. Hate to say it but I think I out grew them. -Happy listening

Interesting that this statement "yes when needed can go to high volumes with the same clarity. You actually won't realize how loud it is because it still sounds good." perfectly describes M80's when driven by proper equipment.

i realize that the ebay bid page thus far has no bids and has been in place for 6 days thus far. it looks like so far there are no takers.
for me and my Axioms, let me put it this way "from my cold dead hands" that's the only way those things are leaving me! i can't get enough of them. everytime i listen to my speakers i am reminded that i made the right choice.
perhaps you should give them more time. having said all of that, best of luck selling them and i do hope that the new owner will be happy with the axiom sound.

i realize that the ebay bid page thus far has no bids and has been in place for 6 days thus far. it looks like so far there are no takers. I always think the same at first for ebay auctions, but lately it's been last minute vultures in "auto" bid wars. As of today 156 hits and 13 have it on their watch list. Someones going to get a good Axiom deal. I have taken into account the M80s vs M60s. Even on XPA3/5 or rack of crowns (xti, D), behringer ep's. Crossing over for a subwoofer the bottom of the m60/80 (2 x 6.5") aren't doing a whole lot. The sound to cover the room is in the top end 2 speakers (m60) and 4 (m80). Not to say doubling my surface area and power handling with M80s will help its not the direction I wanted to go. True the centers of vp150 vs 180 would give vast improvement of more punch. I'm coming from a custom center of 4 x 6.5" and 1.3" tweeter. I wasn't too surprised when my wife gave the eye putting in the vp150. It was like going a little backwards but I gave it a honest go. I really wanted to like the axioms more but at least someone else will get to benefit from my trials.

How big is your room, I have no problem filling my 8,000 cu ft + room to dB's well beyond where most should be, with no distortion.

How big is your room, I have no problem filling my 8,000 cu ft + room to dB's well beyond where most should be, with no distortion. damn good question! my room is 15 x 16 and if i wanted to i can crank those M80v3's & VP180v3 to ear and nose bleed levels (i can't and won't) so i'm trying to understand how large of an area the OP is using these things in. i am always astounded when folks say it's not loud enough. how loud is loud enough. perhaps at those volumes of constant use those users are already losing their hearing and need it louder. not trying to be funny but they say that's true for folks who use headphones at loud volumes for long periods of time that they do in fact damage and lose their hearing and need everything to be "louder" for them to have a perceived "normal" level because of said hearing loss. again, not trying to be funny either. my front 3 as mentioned are powered by an XPA-5 amp and i've never had the volume to half way more than as a test because it was so loud and painful i couldn't stand it---still sounded great, just couldn't deal with the sound pressure levels at that volume. just never understand folks needing things at such incredibly high SPL's but to each his own.

I was actually asking autobot as the Axioms are able to easily reach concert levels (120dB) cleanly if driven with proper equipment, of course from 12ft away that would require possibly 1,000+watt amps, which is unlikely for most.

Those are some beautiful pics there. Recently there was an individual who was conducting ground plane measurements outside on a horn loaded sub that was setting off car alarms. Now that is awesome. I agree that these horns are going to be nothing like the bad rap that you get from entry level Klipsch speakers and the like that are commonly listened to. You have boats load of power at your disposable with all those PA amps OMG!

Thanks BlueJays1, it was a fun project building Danleys kit diy dts-10. Actually I'm looking to build a second one believe it or not since he's offering it again. Yup insanity but some have it worse than others. The ep4000 amp isn't the fanciest but gets the job done at 2400rms into the dts-10. Yes plenty on tap as you say lol.
All, The space isn't dedicated all the time. So it has extra void to fill due to the dual use of a operational garage. Main three walls are underground and concrete. 36'x30' ceiling is 10'. In the middle of chaos now as still moving in. Theres valleys of seemingly endless boxes before the new layout can begin.

I have no problem with the "growing out of" the M80s, as each individual has his own taste. The thing that bothers me a bit is when you speak about speaker clarity in a big space with cement walls and that seems to be untreated, JMO. Anyway, good luck with your auction and I hope you'll find the sound you're looking for.

Are you running the EP4000 stock or did you apply some kind of silent fan mod to it? With your great room (10000+ cubic feet) is a good opportunity to put some pro gear through its paces. Enjoy yourself and most importantly have fun.

I actually did try the fan mod. Tested it before installing and went hmm it is quiet but doesn't move much air. Made sure the transistor "channel" was sealed and with the fan shroud to maximize throughput. The ep ran hot after having the hulk in the room and playing music afterwards for couple solid hours. It wasn't hot enough to shut down on it's own, but was hot enough to the touch that other rack items were getting warmer. I rechecked fan direction and everything was correct. My girl recommended to just put back the factory fan and try it. Sometimes we should listen lol. Moves plenty of air and now runs cooler with my use. The rack(35RU) has it's own space as we relocate the washer and dryer.
At the moment "roominator" kits from samedaymusic for sound treatment. Some panels are diy, but the corners are still the lenrd bass traps. Actually they do an awesome job.

After email requests and watching auctions I guess what they say is true that things are worth more in pieces than whole.
All items re-listed separately. Pricing is low. If we don't stop tripping over the boxes, looks like the neighbor will get one hell of a nice system for beer. Least he offered something lol.
Peace

Do you have these listed on any audio forums in the classifieds section? Audioholics, HT Shack? Goodies usually get snatched pretty quickly because of all the traffic.

Listed in avsforum speaker classifieds. I don't have enough post count at audioholics and HTshack even though I frequent both as lurker. Hell my neighbors payment plan of beer isn't looking to bad lol.

I wish you luck in your new purchase. As many say on here sound quality is largely an opinion an you must hear them for yourself. The OP did that, offered what appeared to be a good deal to fellow axiom enthusiasts and did what a lot of us do commonly by posting in the wrong spot. Good luck and I hope you enjoy your new speakers.

Seems nobody is in the market for some perfect M60s lol. I would of thought they'd be first to go, but just wow. Listed for probably the last time at half list price.
Thanks for the posts guys. I've put the surrounds and center to good homes with axiom listeners.

Offered the M60s to my bro n law for his new place. 2 cases of spaten and they will be delivered soon. More like a house warming gift. Tossing in a nice little sub put together with vented 12" dayton titanic3 w/bash300s on it. Coming from almost nothing, this 2.1 setup should rock his place lol.
