Hi guys does any of you can help me with my Denon 3310? I am trying to get the sound out of zone 2 but I have a question. Can I output the sound from mainzone to zone 2 or the only sound that can be output is the ones from zone 2 preouts? Thanks

Zone 2 usually won't take digital inputs. Could that be what you're running into?

I guess so. Thanks for the help. I managed to get sound off, but there is a huge difference in volume comparing to when I listen to pure direct mode. One thing I haven't been able to do is output zone 2 and mainzone sound at same time. Shouldn't it be possible?

If you're using exclusively HDMI or S/PDIF connections you'll probably not be able to play the second zone at the same time as the main.
If that's the case, you'll also have to run analog (red and white RCA) cables from each piece of equipment to the receiver.

I would think so, but I have a Harman/Kardon, not a Denon. Check to see if there's volume settings for Zone 2 somewhere in the menus.

If that's the case, you'll also have to run analog (red and white RCA) cables from each piece of equipment to the receiver. I tried that also. Whenever I hook up the RCA cables altogether with HDMI there is only sound output. If the zone 2 is being output with RCA and main zone is on HDMI, there is only main zone output, unless main zone is turned off.

Dunno. Sorry I can't be of more help, I use Pioneer gear. Hopefully someone with a multi-zone, Denon setup will come along.

I would think so, but I have a Harman/Kardon, not a Denon. Check to see if there's volume settings for Zone 2 somewhere in the menus. The volume can be changed on the remote as I did. In order to get the same volume as when Pure Direct mode output the zone 2 must be 25 Db plus more or less. Is this normal? Otherwise I will consider getting an amp to my kitchen instead of using zone 2 since there is a huge loss on sound volume.

Hard to say. I use a separate amp for my Zone 2.

Or rather, a cheapo 2 channel receiver from eBay.

Ichigo, you say that you'll "consider getting an amp to my kitchen", but using the Zone 2 pre-outs you have to already be using an amp to amplify the line level voltage, so I don't follow what your setup is. An alternative, of course, is to assign the back surround channels to instead drive the speakers in the other room.

My setup is a 5.1 and this week as mentioned on other post, got new speakers. So after trying to hook them up on zone 2, the sound output was not very satisfying. For that reason I said that a new receiver would be an option.

Yes, I assume you mean the KEFs, but how are you powering them in the other room?

I agree with John. I have a Denon AVR and can run both 5.1 and a 2 channel "B" speakers option. If you don't mind running the same music in your kitchen you could try that. The only advantage of zone 2 is that you could use 2 different sources at the same time.
