Here are the first pics coming out. The build quality and looks are top notch. If we know anything about Shure, the sound quality will be there as well. The 940 is going to take on a more neutral version of the younger brother, the SRH 440. Better bass extension, lower distortion, better comfort and build quality than either the 440 and 840. http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/5505...15#post_7455618

Interesting. I really like my 840's despite their size. I even prefer to take them on travel because I can isolate everything on the plane and they're really comfortable. For me, I'd like the velour pads, I liked them on the Beyers too.
I've since gotten a pair of Ety HF5's with custom molds. They work well w/ my iPhone 4 and isolate VERY well. BUT, the Shure's still sound better but sometimes I'd rather not have to lug the headphones, camera and extra gear for a carry on.
I do like the trend towards over the ear headphones, in spite of my distaste for seeing that Dre Beats logo where ever saggy pants prevail.

The velour pads are one of the nice upgrades on the 940. I know the 440 and 840 pads were interchangeable and you could buy them separately so I don't see how the 940 pads would be any different. Upgrading to the velour pads on the 840 would be very nice indeed. Once they become available I might snag a pair for the 440.

http://www.etymotic.com/customfit/index.htmlIt's $100, which includes the fitting session. Cheapest that I've seen for custom. I've seen a few vendors on Head-fi that offer to take your existing IEMs and repackage into custom molds but that can get pricey fast. Also, I didn't have a pair worth sacrificing. At least w/ the Ety route, I can use the same molds across the Ety line if I choose to. Actually I have the HF3 (I think), the ones w/ the iPhone 4 control. I have a BT headset but got REALLY tired of remembering to charge it all the time. Also, I hate looking like a 'bluetool/bluefool'.
