A comment I read elsewhere pretty much captured my emotional state: I'm choked up because, in some way, Steve Jobs represents everyone I know and love who has had or currently has or will one day have terminal cancer and who fights it and strives for excellence in their life right up to the last moment.

You touched so many lives for the better. Try telling that to the people (or their families) that manufactured the products he made billions off. Apple has used sweatshop labour-including children-for years. His employees have suffered in extremely hostile working condition and endured physical and mental abuse resulting in numerous suicides. Was he a visionary and technological wiz? Without a doubt! But nobody would praise him if it was their family member that committed suicide or was sexually abused. It's easy for the privileged to forget about these things after someone's passing, and lionize them. It's incontrovertible that his death (like most any persons) is tragic for his friends and family, and I'm sorry for their loss. But I'll judge someone by the totality of their character; and the bad trumps the good (like MJ).

I heard the idiots from the Hillsboro Baptist Church are planning on pissing on his funeral like they do all the military funerals here in the US. To bad it is our military that gives them the rights/freedom to act like imbeciles.

Very sad. The early Apple days were the reason I went to school to become an engineer.
I work at a tech company and pretty much everything we do is affected by Apple. All of our customers are trying to compete with them because what they do has been successful, whether you like it or not.
I think Patton Oswalt, the comedian and writer, had one of the better quotes from yesterday. 'RIP Steve Jobs. Closest thing we had to Tony Stark.'

Small point of clarification: It's our Constitution that gives them the right to act like imbeciles, not the military.

Yes. Hank Williams exercised the constitution. But people must understand freedom of speech does not mean there cant be no consequences for exercising that freedom.
I don't care if he was on ESPN or not after that statement but people ranting that his firing was unconstitutional is not at all correct.

Yeah, put that down as one of my pet peeves: when people think they can say anything without any consequences because of "free speech" in the Constitution. Ignorance.

Small point of clarification: It's our Constitution that gives them the right to act like imbeciles, not the military. Or the military that defends us and the constitution... (just trying to create a circle reference, sorry)
