I am renovating my basement and am considering purchasing M22 in-wall LR and VP100 in wall center. The problem is that I only have room for mounting the surrounds on the ceiling. Has anyone installed QS8 or on the ceiling? I am considering, if possible, mounting a pair of M2's or M3's in the ceiling but am concerned about dispersion as they will be mounted on the ceiling behind the viewers.

Is it possible to mount the QS8's on stands instead? I've heard that ceiling mounted speakers are about the worst way to go. QS8's are the most forgiving of the speakers as far as placement. Axiom makes a ceiling mount for them. Ceiling mount bracket. Stands.

Yes, can you expand on why you have to put speakers on ceiling?

The way my room in the basement is configured, I do not have parallel walls to mount the QS8 on and stands would be in the way on one side as the area is an access point to the seating area. The only free space I will have is the ceiling behind the seating area.

I may have found an alternate location behind the seating area although it would be located at ceiling height. The speakers would be partially concealed by the bulkhead enclosing the HVAC ducts. I read that ideal height placement would be roughly the height of ear level standing up. I could tilt the speakers down facing the listeners.

The bottom of my QS8's are about 8 feet off the ground or so (I Had a window in the way).
They still sound great!

Ceiling mounted hangers? I'm terribly biased at the sound of ceiling speakers. I find them very unnatural. They would be my last choice but I realize sometimes, you just have to do what you have to do.
With great power comes Awesome irresponsibility.

Here is another option to consider. I have some Aperion audio outdoor speakers in my kitchen, since I won them in a contest.
http://www.aperionaudio.com/product/Intimus-Outdoor-Speaker,230,31,718.aspx
I have them mounted to the ceiling and about one foot away from the wall and the mount allows me to angle them to the listening level. So I guess you could call them a big on ceiling speaker. They sound great, for music while I am cooking. Now my kitchen is pretty small, so if you have a larger room, they may not fill it very well.
If you wanted to go with something like that setup in Axiom, you could use an M2 or M3 with an Axiom bracket and accomplish something similar.
I did, before I went with my Axiom home theater setup, have the Bose acoustimass 5.1 setup. I had the satellite speakers ceiling mounted and angled down, to help with WAF. They sounded terrible to me, setup this way. All of the sounds came from above, which is really strange and distracting when watching a movie. But, with the Aperion speakers set up almost the exact same way in the kitchen, it doesn't sound like it is coming from above at all. Probably because I am always standing up when I am in the kitchen, so there isn't that much of an angle that they are being pointed downward. Also, speakers mounted on the ceiling are probably not as distracting when being used as background music, compared to home theater use.
