It should be interesting to monitor various online forums today to see how people get along who love to 'look' knowledgeable or correct people on details via quick wiki lookups. If you are not familiar with this protest, you can check out Wiki's one remaining page here. Sadly, I just called some friends at work here and there are some DAUs calling into our help desk (ISP) and telling us our "Internet is broken", as a result. Ummm, ya we'll get right on that and have you fixed right up in under 24 hours.....
With great power comes Awesome irresponsibility.

Yeah, I heard about it on the radio. I'm a frequent user.

The Wiki shut down is in response to upcoming SOPA legilation, which can/will have a deliterious effect on 1/2 of the InterWeb.
It is only shut down in English. Wales alone hits it 25 million times per day.
Other BIG sites are promising to do the same, in protest, over the next couple of weeks.
You guys are in HUGE trouble. I own actual books!

It saddens me to know that people haven't heard of this. The "blackout" has been in the works for some time now. Unfortunately more highly popular sites like Google and Facebook were supposed to join in on the SOPA protest, but backed/pussied out (money......). Edit - Surfing around, I just came across another site that's shut down in protest. Good stuff.

I think Charlie Chaplin's final speech from the movie The Great Debater is apt considering the topic at hand, and also in light of the passing of the insidious NDAA.

I just checked around. Whew! Not one of the porn sites I "found" is in anti-SOPA solidarity.
