When was the last time you did something for the first time?

I kinda knew I was setting myself up for the mundane.

I'm not expecting anyone to say that just last week, they got whacked on crack and had a bi 3-way with the Beckhams at the Marina del Rey Ritz.

If you think real hard, you may realize that it's been quite some time since anything significant has been a first.

You are correct Bob. The mundane graph is creeping upward every year.

I did try snowboarding instead of skiing this year.
I won't try to fool you. It wasn't pretty.

Oh, how about this one. I tried Levitra instead of Viagra for the first time.

Now we're getting somewhere.

And...?

I'm pretty sure no one wants you to get technical, but did you come away feeling one was preferable?

I don't know anyone who has tried all three for a complete opinion. The children here are laughing, but in 20 years or less, they'll be very glad that the r & d is already as old as they are.

Evil joke I had to include: Was there any change noticed by your hand?

There ya go! Das cool. If you think about it, nothing you've ever done for the first time was very pretty, now, was she it?

Hmm... somebody's been inspired by the lyrics from the new Van Halen album. cool

I liked that line too.

Over the last year, I've had a bunch of "firsts", and hardly any of them have been any fun. I need to rectify that over the next year!

Wound my own torsion and compression springs by hand.

Also, the first few weren't pretty but I kept at it until the correct number of coils fit into the correct length with fairly even coil spacing.

Stress relieved them in the oven at 500F for an hour and let them slowly cool. They're not "commercial perfect" looking, but they fall within the correct range, and they weren't available commercially.

0.043 music wire doesn't look very thick until you try to get 16 coils of it into a free length of 1 5/8".

OK, I gotta ask. What are doin there Bren?

I first envisioned the compressing of spring coil shocks to get them on or off a vehicle (a very scary first for me many years ago) but I don't think that is what you are talking about.

Much MUCH smaller... coil springs on a vehicle are around 0.43 and larger in diameter... 100 plus times the area.

I was winding new springs for a very specialized gun that they quit making parts for the second it left the factory floor.

Though I have done automotive coil springs a few times. In auto shop with a big compressor, it went well... in a friend's friend's garage with a little 20 gallon 120V compressor, not so much. Got quick at getting my hand out of the road when the coil compressors decided to slip and meet up with "la grande force". :P

RE mundane-it's one of the truly odd words in the English language. The two prime definitions for said word contrast each other.

It can mean "of the world" or " worldly". The world is anything but boring or commonplace.

Just talking allowed. Carry on....

Well, I went to Newfoundland for the first time last summer. Not exactly "bi 3 way" exciting, but fun and interesting none the less. Standing at the edge of a 200 foot cliff watching a bazillion sea birds was pretty cool (maybe thats just old-guy exciting).

My last truly exciting first was scuba on the Great Barrier Reef 5 years ago.

I want to try a gyrocopter, but haven't found any place local that can take me up in one.
