Yeah a little OT, but it is music related. So there.
I just can't believe there is such a hype behind this tour. They are dubbing it a "reunion" tour, but it has Sammy Hagar as front man. Not DLR. I think I would be a little more jazzed if it was DLR even though he has become a little chubby and bald over the years. I saw Van Halen with Hagar back in 89 on the Mosters of Rock tour and to me it was a bore. I never got a chance to see them with DLR up front so to me that would be pretty cool.

some reunion tours are great, some are terrible.
Bauhaus' reunion tour in 98 was incredible.
I hope for Van Halen fans they can still perform live.

I've seen "Van Hagar" three times. It was pretty good, but not nearly as good as seeing DLR live. I saw him on tour during his first three solo albums. Great performer. I was lucky enough to see him when he had Steve Vai and Billy Sheehan in his band. Great stuff!

On the subject of "some reunion tours are better than others", I just saw the DVD titled "3 Dog Night and the Tennessee Symphony". Turns out there was really only 2 Dogs (Chuck Negron was not involved). I loved these guys, but after experiencing the DVD, I will need serious medical intervention to recalibrate my brain synapses before I can even consider a semblance of recovery. This will be buttressed by concurrent consumption of an ocean of bourbon. A full scan of a professional multi-lingual thesaurus did not yield any additional descriptors that can adequately amplify the understatements of "bad", "sucks", "lame", "bizarre" (audience participation here allows for insertion of your similar favorite word__________).
I am currently undergoing therapy and am also enrolled in the Dale Carnegie Emertius series to help me get to the point where I can overcome my reticence to express myself, but although somewhat vague, I hope my comments served give you a glimpse into my thoughts on this DVD.

He didn't look that bad. At least you could tell it was him.

You're not flattered? Now you see why I started that thread last year -- Photoshop fodder!
