Hello all and thanks in advance for your help. I am going to order my first set of Axiom speakers soon. I have heard nothing but good about them and with the 30 day trial I figure I cant go wrong. I am dead set on running a 7.1 setup and have decided on the Yamaha RX-v2400 as the receiver. I have a Klipsch powered sub that I am currently using and am very happy with so I am going to keep it. My speakers will be used primarily for home theatre and just a little music listening as well. The "bigger is better" in me wants to get a set of M60's as the main speakers, but I am leaning towards the M22ti's instead since I do not really need the extra bass + room size is not very large(budget is also a factor).

The setup I am thinking of running is:
Yamaha RX-V2400 receiver
VP150 center
M22ti fronts
QS4 left + right surrounds
M2 rear centers

Does anyone have any thoughts on this setup? I have been reading about matching "timbre" but not sure what that means.

I wouldn't change a thing with your order. I've got M22s and couldn't be happier with them. I know the M60s would be overkill in my 12x13x8 room. Your other choices are also perfect. You're in for a real treat!

Room size is 15 X 20 feet and ceiling is knida weird. I think it is called either vaulted or cathedral not sure which but it is at about a 45 degree slope towards the top then hits a wall with a loft window looking down into the living room.

Steve, an admirable set of choices. If we assume a 9' average ceiling height, that gives you 2700 cubic feet and might get you leaning towards the M60s. The M22s will likely be fine, but I'd ask if you have spoken to the Axiom guys JUST to be sure. When you get this worked out, the order arrives and you get it all hooked up, be sure you have scheduled 3-4 days for an uninterrupted listening orgy and be prepared to reacquint yourself with your CDs - you've really never listened to them before! Enjoy it.

Don't underestimate how good the M60's sound on their own without a sub. I must admit I did not even consider the M22's even for my fairly small (17x12x9) room as I thought the extra bass performance of the M60's was worth having. Now I have my system I actually still prefer some recordings (in stereo) without my sub (VTF-3 Mk2).

Glad to hear that, I don't have my M60s yet but I am hoping that for stereo I can go "subless".

The extra Bass would be nice, but in my current living conditions which is a 2 home townhouse I could not really enjoy the extra bass anyway. I already had the neighbors knock on my door once about the subwoofer so I think I am going to go with the M22. Once my wife and I purchase our own home I will probably get the M60's and transfer the m22's to a different room. I think I am going to place my order today. Is axiom usually pretty qick getting items shipped out? I am hoping if I place the order today I will have them by next Friday.
