I figured its worth trying while I have them all in one location. The front channels will all be raised, I'm thinking I'll match all the heights and the match the spacing between the the rears to the spacing of the L&R. I have to find an inexpensive way to do this, it may only be temporary.

Dennis' username was Tharkun, I believe.
Doesn't Mel (onn) also have a whole bunch of M80's? Not sure about the center.

I am using M80's for surround speakers in my great room. The fronts are Opus 2.2's. I can't run a center channel in this room, as the TV is over the fireplace. When listening to music, I use the 5.1 channel stereo option the receiver has. The M80's as surround speakers work surprisingly well. More so than I thought they would. But, it should be noted that they are about 16' away from the main listening position. If they were less than about 10' away, I don't think they would work for surround speakers all that great. Sometimes you do not want to know exactly where the sound is coming from behind you.
So I guess what I'm suggestions, is to NOT use any sort of direct radiating speaker for the surround or rear surround, unless you have plenty of distance between the speaker and your listening position. If you do have the distance, go for it.

I will have 11' or so to work with if I don't divide the room into two and or I don't move the front sound stage back. It probably goes with out saying now, I really enjoy tweaking sound systems in pursuit of better realism. Admittedly I don't always like myself but when it is better it was worth the headache.

If you do have the distance, go for it. like I said in a post earlier; different situations such as room size avr's or amps and m80 version all have an impact on results I agree with what you said, re; NOT use any sort of direct radiating speaker for the surround or rear surround, unless you have plenty of distance between the speaker and your listening position. If you do have the distance, go for it. I have yielded the same results and conclusions

It's all good. I've traded these two in. I have QS8's & QS4's for my surrounds and a small pile of speakers in storage. I'm on the fence about it, but I think I'm going to move the L/C/R and screen to the other end of the room (where there isn't a 5' doorway next to them). I thought it would be neat to try while I have the room tore apart.

I think I'm in trouble. My M80's have never sounded so good.
