I have an EP350 sub on order and I'm trying to buy the cables now. Question: What kind of cable do I need for the 12v trigger? Nobody seems to sell such a cable. I have found single (Mono) 3.5mm audio cables (rare breed) but I don't know if the wire gauge is big enough. How much current is actually flowing or is it just a voltage signal level?
Also, how important is the shielding on the Coax/RCA audio cable?
Thanks in advance Dave

Hey dberthe, The current flowing is limited to a milliampere level. It is a extra low voltage signal circuit. Small gauges are fine for this use. Shielding becomes important if you have a long cable run, nearby transmission antennas, or current carrying conductors in parallel for a portion of your cable run. Long story short, good quality shielded coaxial signal cable is cheap, and recommended.

The mono cable will work fine. I am not sure but is the ep 350 nnot auto sensing. It should turn on when it receives a sub signal from your amp. stereo is trs and mono is ts, you can use a stereo cable for trigger or mono.

Thanks for reply. I will investigate the "Auto Sensing" feature you mentioned. I may not even need the trigger cable; especially since I understand Axiom has redesigned the amps for V4. I will email them and post answer here later.

I looked at what they had listed on the product website but it seems they only use the trigger unless the site needs to be updated. Of the 4 I have they all remain in standby until they sense an LFE signal and then turn on. The Axiom turns on when you power up your amp. Keep us posted.

I just emailed Axiom; I will post their response.
Thanks, Dave

That mono cable will work just fine. Its exactly what I use for my ep350.
The advantage of the trigger is that it powers on the sub so there is no standby power usage. I have no idea how long it is until I break even on the $4.00 cable, but I like the idea of eliminating wasted power wherever I can.

Fred, is the power to the sub totally off if the trigger voltage hasn't turned it on? For example, is the indicator light not even in red status? I would have thought that the mode might use less standby power but not zero.

get out your killiwatt and let us know. The manual says leave the sub in the on position when using the trigger , which would mean it is in some sort of limbo.
