Anxious to hear your thoughts on how it sounds! (Both the XMC1 and the pineapple but not the grass skirt. Actually mostly just the first one. I already upgraded to multichannel watermelons.)

It will be a few days until I have it set up and mess with all the settings. I am going to use this as an opportunity to try and straighten out the mess of wires I have. Since Dirac is not installed yet I will have to take the time to enter in speaker distances and get used to working with the peq and REQ. I will share my sons impressions more so than mine since he has better hearing. I happy to say he likes all the same music I like so it will be fun. My hearing just isn't what it used to be but im hopeful I will be able to notice an improvement.

I've been waiting for that unit to come out. It's been in limbo for a long time. I need to see if I can get the 40% off for repeat customers.

I've been waiting for that unit to come out. It's been in limbo for a long time. I need to see if I can get the 40% off for repeat customers. I really was not sure if I was going to get the XMC-1 or not but I was browsing the for sale adds on the Emo forum and picked up a discount card for a really good deal and our dollar was in good shape then so I jumped on it , which committed me to follow through. I have it in my system now but thus far have only listened to my favorite SACD Brothers in Arms and it sounds absolutely fantastic. I moved my Denon into my bedroom to replace my Yamaha and that turned into a complete wire cleanup and reorganize job which led to a diagnosis and repair of my turntable wiring which now finally sounds as good as when I bought it. Hopefully tonight I can sit down and watch a movie and relax.

But....don't all amps sound the same? I did not say it sounded better or worse than anything else ,just that it sounded fantastic. I didn't do an A/B comparison since I am too lazy and would probably do it wrong any way . I just wanted a pre/pro rather than a receiver acting as a pre/pro and am fortunate enough to be able to afford a change. As for the all amps ,receivers etc sound the same controversy there are plenty of people over at AVS who would love to argue that matter until the cows come home. Richard

Its a slippery slope. I just like all my pretty blue lights My hearing is ruined so I just stay out of that conversation. I can still enjoy music , but I doubt it sounds as good to others as I think it does .

No, all amplifiers don't "sound the same"; all competently designed amplifiers operated within their designed power limits have no "sound".

Enjoy the music, not the equipment.

John K:
I couldn't agree more.
I hear no difference between my modern tube amp & my SS Receiver. Since I'm not running at disco levels, I've never pushed either beyond their limits...

And it sounds extra-elevenish.
