The XS15SE is interesting and a good price considering I would default to buying 2. 2 things I noticed that give me pause. No DSP Control or drive limiter. (Correct me if I'm wrong) Also, the driver is down firing. Immediate loss of tactile energy transfer into the listener space. I've messed with sub orientation a fair bit and forward firing is what I would buy. Like to conserve all available output to smack me in the face. Edit: Read again and has DSP controlled amp and limiter. Hmmmmm very interesting.

Now you're talking. Suddenly I'm hearing Cher singing "if I could turn back time..." Those sealed units look impressive.

Tom Vodhanel is president and founder of Power Sound Audio, an Ohio-based company that specializes in subwoofers and sells direct through its website. Tom is also known as the “V” in SVS, another company that started out as a subwoofer specialist, and which he co-founded.

Well, I wasn't too impressed with some of his comments referencing a competitor's (you know who) efforts. Of note are his Posts 2 & 6: http://www.avsforum.com/forum/113-subwoo...m-ep800-v4.htmlI have no time for that kind of crap - he shouldn't even joined that thread given his capacity of being the CEO of PSA. Very unprofessional I would say. No PSA products in my future, even if they are good... TAM

I bought 2 PSA subs, very happy with quailty and perfomace, the order process was fast and smooth very big bang for the buck I was impressed, and the end thats what it's all about. Don't get me wrong I like axioms but the ep500 V4 just didn't do it for me when I replaced my KSW15 sub so I had to send it back, my short list came down to either PSA or Rythmik.

Before you read this know that I dont totally suck and I'm just trying to be Switzerland here. I dont know him personally, but given where it was posted it could have been much worse. I saw that thread some time ago and it seemed like he was just saying the Axiom EP800s were an unconventional design. As are other Axiom products. No big deal. I'm sure the new Axiom sub lineup planned is great, but for the money it would be irresponbible to not at least entertain other possibilities. No? That said, if Axiom wants to send some next gen subs to Jim Wilson over at HTshack, who has personally experienced a plethora of internet direct products, we can get an honest opinon for both quality and value comparisons. I'd love to read an Axiom sub review from the next gen lineup! Even better would be a positive review from Mark Henninger at AVS forum. What a Coup de gras that would be to the BS stigma Axiom has over there. I think he is legit and given he is now reviewing high end 2ch gear, he can take the heat and rebuff when the naysayers start to feel plucky.

This has nothing to do with the gear per se & whether or not one is better than someone else's design.
My feathers wouldn't have been ruffled if it was just a normal enthusiast over there spouting off in spades like they normally do. That doesn't bother me if it is indeed factual; however, I've found out long ago that other's opinions on speakers are largely irrelevant anyway. To me, remarks coming from a stalwart entity in the speaker building industry in that thread is stepping over the line IMO.
Enuff said...

It was a tactless comment, and made me think less of him.

I wonder how much overlap in the tech and design of the PSA vs SVS units. To set them apart it looks like PSA is trying to provide higher output options for a marginal increase in cost vs SVS.
