Oh the pain! I was watching the Kennedy Honors last night and I wanted to hear the gal singing Desperado through my system, so I turned it on. For some reason when it kicked in my venerable EP500 (V1) was booming away at an incredibly high output. I was fumbling with a relatively unfamiliar remote and before I could shut things down, the poor thing just died. With minimal trying, I could not get anything out of it, I fear it has gone belly up. Actually, it not that big a problem for me. Before too long, I will be moving into a small apartment, in a building, which means close neighbors who probably would not appreciate an EP500. I have an old smaller sub (UFW10, currently in my bedroom setup) which will suffice. I just wanted to share so I could get some commiseration on the passing of an old, dear, faithful friend who served me well for a lot of years. RIP!

I have not checked the fuse(s). But, I suspect it/they are OK cuz the light on the amp is lit. Thanks for the suggestion, Mark.

I'm happy to report this was a false alarm. The EP500 is working just fine. I have no idea why it seemed to be dead in the water only to rise again. I think I need to recalibrate everything maybe without using Audyssey this time.

Perhaps it just went on a little vacation?
Good news, Jack. Glad it wasn't permanently kaput.
