Hi, Nice review of the Axiom M100v4 . . . Secrets of Home Theatre & High Fidelity"... To the best of my knowledge, their nearest competition would be the Thiel 3.7 at more than four times the cost. Therefore on a performance per dollar basis, I consider the Axioms stone cold winners!..."

I see five Zobel networks (one for each low and mid driver) and a first order filter on that cross-over PCB. It's amazing that hundreds (thousands?) of curves are necessary to optimize the component values of what appears, to the uninitiated, to be a relatively simple cross-over. It's good to see the inductors spaced "far apart" and positioned on different axes. The wire gauge on the inductors is fairly beefy too to minimize parasitic resistance.

The reviewer is Boomzilla from here.
I have mixed feelings about it. It sure is great exposure for Axiom. It also reads as though Axiom co-wrote it, or at the very least coached the process. Many of the images are taken directly from here, including measurements (as mentioned in the review to be fair.) I'm not sure that is a good review practice. JC notified as the review went live in almost real time..... Too obvious guys.
I think this is the end of the road for me here. So long folks.

I think this is the end of the road for me here. So long folks. After two incredibly busy, difficult months, I finally "come up for air" and see this response to the review thread. You have elected to leave because you think the review was "too obvious". Industry standards - as set by Stereophile - have reviews sent to the manufacturer before the review is published, which is why one will see a "manufacturer's response" to the review in the same issue as the review. The manufacturer is also a part of the review process, working on set up and methodology. This concept did not start with the M100 review - it has been done for over 50 years. To the measurements .. it is more than mentioned in the review. The reviewer states he has no measuring equipment, so he put Axiom's measurements in. These measurements use the same methodology that SoundStage uses at the NRC. This is not an attempt to reverse your "so long folks". It is merely putting out factual information for others reading this thread. Pretty sure you will be missed here, so take care.

If i felt the reviewer wasn't on point I would call it out but funny enough I got my M80v4's in yesterday to replace my m80ti's. I happen to have the Led Zeppelin remasters CD's in my possession so I listened to the two songs the reviewer used and I have to say he's right! I did not do a full compare of both sets but to me the m80 v4's seem just as detailed as the m80ti but smoother is the best way to describe it. I'm very happy with the upgrade. I'm currently running them on the Marantz SR7010.

I just glossed over the review - nothing upset me & it kinda follows all of the other reviews that I've seen on this model.
Certainly not enough there to cause anyone to depart the scene IMO. Besides, Serenity, I really need & appreciate the advice that you've given me over the past couple of years.
Craig - really good to see you back. Hopefully everything is well.
This morning at breakfast was the first time that I was able to dial in my talk radio station on the net from Vancouver on the AA. Exponentially better listening experience as contrasted to my previous kitchen radio. I believe that Axiom has a winner here; however, it is not quite as easy as just turning a knob on a regular radio, ha! Craig, you gotta get one of these...

I own a VP180-v3 and I don't think that I miss anything over a v4. But then as I have never really tried them side by side it's a tough one to call.
There have been some reviews that I wonder if they are trying to get their money worth out of an online thesaurus by saying big words or just trying to sound smarter than the average reader.
The review at least gives some of the technical side to the speaker that is very much lacking in most. I'm glad to know that the speaker coil baskets are actually cast rather than stamped metal.
I appreciate that at least one of the test disks used was one that I own and could try it out to see how well it sounds. In fact, I am sort of doing the opposite by keeping the speakers the same, but changing the receiver for a new pre-amp/amp combo. it would be interesting to see how it sounds and if it sounds better with the new equipment over the old.

I'm hoping to pull a driver out of my M80HP and post an image of all three this weekend. There should be obvious differences between all 3 speakers(stamped vs original cast vs HP cast). I'm hoping his statement about being equal to the original cast basket is proven to be incorrect. Either way they sound great, its more about my expectations when I purchased them. There was talk of a new driver for the M100 and I don't recall/can't find a statement from axiom that confirms they are in fact different from the original cast basket upgrade. Stay tuned...lol
