The Manual states that 'Reset' restores factory settings - is this what I want to do?

I unplugged it for a couple of minutes & then let it reboot - is that the same as pressing 'Reset'? It's now working OK on my devices but the AA still will not hook up properly.

Time to look at Best Buy I guess...

It's not the same thing. Pressing the button will restore the router to factory settings, like you just took it out of the box.

Do I want to do that, ie back to factory settings?

Just found this one at the local BB on sale til tomorrow:

Does it sound like it would do the job?

That's exactly the one I picked out for you on Newegg if you decided to upgrade.

BUT, before spending any money, I would try pushing the button and doing the factory reset first.

Note, you may have to re-setup your home network again if you push the button, not sure, but you will definitely have to set it up again anyway if you buy a new router.

Well, as you said, after this many years, it is time for an upgrade for many other reasons.

I think that I'll just go over & get one while it is on sale...

OK, after an afternoon of new Router installation hell, I'm fully up & running both on my devices & the AA. The Vista machine gave me a lot of heartache; however, 'chatting' with one of D-Link's techs solved that. So it seems that an obsolete Router was the cause all along with the AA.

No flashing lights now & my blood pressure is now receding, ha!

Got a burning question though. My web radio is working fine but how do I add a couple of the local stations our here on the west coast? The search feature doesn't seem to work with a generic query. Does it need an actual URL of the web site to be typed into the box?

Yea!!!!! I knew it! Good for you Tam!

Go here for a nice list of stations:

http://www.internet-radio.com/

The search feature in AA just searches what is already programmed. You can add stations. Find one you like on the site, copy the link, add a new station, and paste in the link.

Have fun!

If anyone is looking for an new router look for Asus 68u, or Netgear r7000. Mature products with excellent firmware support, and excellent range. They also have custom firmware support, ios/android apps. There are more expensive options but people rarely need it. If you need more ports look at the Asus rt88u with 8 ports. Do not get the 87u. Trust me.

RT-N66U running Tomato here. In the last 4(?) years, my wireless quit working once and I had to reboot it. Aside from that, it's been smooth sailing.

The reason that I stayed with D-Link was because of the service that they afforded me when I first installed the previous router years ago.

Since my computer room doubles as a radio room (a fine collection of receivers) I found that the router power supply was causing RFI noise in my radios. I complained to D-Link in Toronto & in a couple of weeks they flew 2 engineers all the way from Taiwan plus 1 from Toronto to my home on Vancouver Island with a bag of modified power supplies. Fixed the problem & they all flew back home that evening.

Absolutely unbelievable. It probably cost them ten thousand dollars in airfare plus hotels & per-diem. So the least that I could do is upgrade with the same brand.

Thanks for all of the help guys. Now to hunt down some net radio stations...
