Just because AirPlay is an Apple thing doesn't mean Android users are left out. There are Android apps that will AirPlay, too. I have one called "AllCast" that will allegedly do it. Sounds like I might find out next week if it really does smile

SRoode, when you're in the middle of a song, and you shut your phone off, does the AA keep on playing that song?

Mojo,

I'm assuming when you say "shut your phone off" you mean turn the screen off, with the phone still "on" waiting for incoming calls.

When using the AA interface, yes it keeps playing and would keep playing even if you really fully power off the phone. The phone is just commanding the AA what to do. The AA is the server.

When using Pandora, yes if you turn the screen off because Pandora is built to keep streaming when the phone "sleeps". If you fully power the phone down, then Pandora will stop because in this case, the iPhone is acting as the server.

Exactly what I wanted to know. Thank you!

When I use Spotify with my Chromecast, I can kill the power to my phone and the Chromecast keeps on playing. I am glad to hear the AA behaves the same way.

They are talking about buffering (but may not know it). As wifi or ethernet for that matter is pretty blocky and can easily send packets out of order, you would want to have most if not all of a music file in memory as fast as possible so that you are playing from a local buffer rather than relying in the network stream to give you the next block of sound in the right order and on time.

So once you start playing the song it will try and get the whole song locally as quickly as possible. Once it's local and playing it doesn't need the source until the next song that is cued up needs to be downloaded into buffer.

Any Android testers out there? Curious to how the AA is working with Android. I will never buy anything with Apple on it again in my lifetime so if the AA isn't android or PC friendly without itunes it's a deal breaker.

Will it connect to a Windows share? SMB?

Has anyone turned it up loud? Does it creak, burp or fart?

Wrong. I'm talking about the AA being the media server vs. the remote device.
