Eric you definitely don't sound good from here. Take a day with pay and relax.

I will have to start a thread on questions soon.

My first comments on usability is that for setup, it's soooo close!
By being a UPnP device, AA already support the appropriate service to be visible under "Network" in Windows... But...
1. Need to support the "GetIcon" function to have a great looking axiom air icon
2. Need to either implement the following page or supply it in UPnP device description.

http://192.168.55.155:49152/upmpd/presentation.html

Easy to fix and save so much to users (no need for Bonjour when you are a UPnP device)

Now continuing... smile

Hi Eric!
Regarding codecs support, we tried to make it compatible with most codecs know by humans... Just to name a few:
FLAC, WAV, MP3, AAC, ALAC, Ogg, Musepack ..

Unfortunately there's no support for DSD, nor with direct DSD or DSD over PCM...

I agree on the UPNP informations, I'll discuss on how to integrate them on next release...

Hi Michelangelo,

DSF works fine (which is DSD).
Apart from the main issues, there are a lot of glitches with UPnP -- to be expected with a dat 1 product -- that I will list for you when I have time.

So far:
KUDOS: Gapless works great
DSF supported

LESS GOOD: Wired LAN plug is too deep inside the casing. Need a flat tool to get the connector out (to pry the little plastic flap down)

MUCH, MUCH LESS GOOD: Wi-fi interface is too weak for a commercial product. You down have to move far away to have too many obstacle in the way to start getting stuttering and then the box becomes so irresponsive that you need to reboot. At least, this can be resolved by using another USB dungle, one longer or with an antenna.

AxiomAir is now integrated in my home automation system, at least for the playback. Have to figure out volume control soon.

Eric,

My AA is about 40 feet from my router, in another room, and the signal is really good. Have you checked your router to see if it's broadcasting at full power? Some routers have a setting to lower the signal power to save energy.

The Wi-fi dongle has been choosen among lots of alternatives, we were looking for good bandwith and reasonable range for a USB dongle and the one in the AA was winning over the competition..
To solve your situation you could try a wireless extender, this should definetely do the trick...

I would be very curious to give the software a try. I have a Raspberry Pi 2b and was wondering if it would be possible to get a copy of the boot flash. No problem with signing non disclosures and know it's not for release to anyone else.

Interested in giving it a try to use as a streaming point to my AVM to see how it works. if it looks good then I will be buying one of the proposed air stereo connection boxes that Ian hinted about. Sort of the AA without any speakers to hook up to my amp.

figured I could help with the testing in the process

I have a slight problem. Volume control has stopped working in the last hour. I thought it was just with UPnP, but it still doesn't work with USB key... That thing is LOUD!

Michelangelo, any suggestions?
I will try resetting to factory defaults...

A few Factory Reset later, I have identified the culprit.
As soon as you change the volume control to "linear" once, even if you set it back later to logarithmic, volume control stops working.
Pfew! smile
