Hey guys. I bought an Axiom EP350 sub on ebay. I'm having problems with it rattling during movie playback. Its fine when playing music. I've talked to Debbie and she suggested a few things..which I've tried, a little better but with extreme lows..it still rattles. I'm using a Denon x2300w receiver. I have my sub level at 0db...crossover at 80hz...and the crossover on the sub set at 80hz. I've tried turning the knob on the sub to bypass, and still get a little rattle. Are my settings way off? Am I missing something simple? Or is my speaker blown. It's an older model EP350. Would a slight crack in the cone cause this as well? If so, is that fixable or if its blown..is a new driver my only option? Thanks for any advice or tips!

Tighten the fasteners on both the amp plate and the driver. Careful not to over tighten and strip them out of the mdf. Make sure it is on a flat surface and isn't skating around or vibrating. Ensure nothing small is in the port rattling around. If all that fails pour a coke into it and start again.

Also make ABSOLUTELY sure it's the subwoofer that is rattling and not something else in the room.
I know this sounds silly but the last two times I got called to fix a subwoofer buzz/rattle it turned out to be something else - one time a picture frame and the other some junk on the bar.

Ive checked..it is coming from the subwoofer. FRom what I told Debbie..she thinks its getting over-driven. From the adjustments I've tried..it helped, but still rattles when a movie is playing explosions...thunder...anything on the really low end. I've never had a subwoofer before so I'm unsure if it "sounds" like it should when playing music, but it doesn't rattle at all when doing so.

air escaping can give this sound, had that issue once so snugging up the fasteners is worth a shot. Also, internal rattling of wire connections at certain frequencies is a possibility. Have you run calibration with the Denon? You would normally put the crossover on the sub on the highest setting and let the receiver handle the bass management. do you have an SPL sound meter you can run test and see if it is calibrated to your other speakers.
