Scott, you will waste about 99% of the electrical energy you feed into your QS8s or any loudspeaker for that matter. Loudspeakers are only 1% efficient.
But that's not really what you were asking. You were asking if QS10HPs will utilize your Emotiva more. The answer to that is "yes" because you will be able to cross them over to 40Hz or maybe even below. The lower cross-over setting will allow bass effects to be placed at the channels the production engineers intended instead of the subwoofer (as I suspect you are currently doing with the QS8s).
I have my side and rear QS8s crossed over at 80Hz and 90Hz respectively. They're not as good as I would like but then again, they are about 13 feet away from me and still sound far better than any surround I've heard. Like my friends say, it sounds better than any movie theatre and now that I have the 800v4 and 160v4, I do agree with them.
