Looking for all the audio techies and room correction gurus out there! What I'm mostly looking for is to be enlightened, in simple terms, what is going on in my room and with my setup. And for possible tweaks and tips to try! I'm not very knowledgable with frequency graphs and eq and how this room correction stuff works. Equipment: 5.2 setup Pioneer Elite SC-57 Rotel RMB-1095 Axiom M80 v3 Axiom VP 160 v3 Axiom QS10 Cerwin Vega CMX-12 (x2) I've taken some pictures of the basics within the MCACC software. I'm focused mainly on the symmetry setting with all these pics. Everytime I run it, it EQ's it the same way. The system EQ's the front left and right the same, the surround left and and right the same and the center similar to the fronts but a little different. Some questions...what's going on in the 63hz range? Why does it drop the 63hz range -6db on my front, left and center? Anything you particularly notice? Any observations, advice, tips or tricks to try...certain changes to eq manually, or anything? All your input and observations or advice is much appreciated. Just trying to educate myself without doing all the leg work of scouring the monster MCACC thread on avsforums

It's dropping the fronts by 6dB at 63Hz likely because your listening position is close to a back wall about 9 or 10 feet from the speakers. This is creating a standing wave. A 6dB drop means the fronts are being fed 1/4 power at 63Hz. I'll bet if you disengage that filter, it will go boom boom in your room.

I can give you tips but you won't like them: - speakers need to come at least a quarter to a third of the way into the room - sitting location needs to be at least 5 feet from the back wall - speakers need to be 12 feet apart and 4 feet away from side walls - sitting location needs to be 12 feet from the speakers Basically you need a bigger room. Please don't hate me.

You could use some diffusion on your back wall, get a thick Persian rug for your floor...and ceiling.

You may want to try leaving all settings where MCACC found them for 500Hz and below. Above 500Hz, set all filters to flat (0).
You might want to listen to that for a while and see what you think.

Haha. I'm undecided so far but leaning to, I like it better. More listening needed

I prefer it. I had the before and after side by side(memory 4 and 5) and after switching back and forth between many songs..I prefer it for music. It has some more "air" and "life" as well as bass lines and kick drums having a little lower oomph. It's a subtle thing but I prefer it. For music anyway Thanks for the suggestion

Music is far more demanding than movies on your front left and right. It's also much easier to be critical of music than modern movies.
I'm puzzled about the difference in the bass but then again I dont know what Pioneer is doing in MCACC. I wish I had the capability in my XT32 to do what you just did.

I brought back a marantz sr5007 in favour of the pioneer elite in favour of MCACC over audyssey, for that very reason.
I know that audyssey is highly touted and eqs subs while mcacc doesnt...but...I love the amount of customization at my fingertips.
I'm a fiddlefucker lol
