8 M2OWs on there way. Should be here May 6. Very excited!

The system will have a pair of LFR1100 Actives, VP180, 2 EP600s, Integra Research RFA 7 amp, Marantz 7025 2 channel amp, and of course, a pair of Axion ADA1500s. Should be pretty nice!

I will report!

Philip, you have to find a way to get yourself M2OW or M2 bookshelves as fronts. I am really curious about your opinion.

Hello Tex

You mean instead of the LFR1100 Actives?

Well...sure. Or in another room. I'm not suggesting you replace your actives with them. Just try them out.

If I was a betting man, I'd bet the M2s will give you a wider presentation than the actives in the room you currently have the actives in.

I'll them in 4 systems before installing them in the main HT system. Will report back!

HT with Marantz 8805
Replace the Dahlquist M905s driven by the mighty Yamaha M80
Replace the Klipsch Fortes driven by a mighty 8 watt per channel ASL MG SI 15DT
Replace the Harbeth 30.2s driven by the Line Magnetic 845 Premium.

BTW swapped the Full Music mesh plate 300bs with the pricey Emissions Labs 300b XLS. Only have a few hours on the EL300b XLSs, but the sound stage front to back seems better. Waiting to hear if the mids improve as well.

How are you going to try them out with all those systems? You bought on-walls.

I will tell you right now that off-the-wall on-walls sound like total shite. Been there done that and earned the dummy and a-hole of the year award when I told Ian to his ear that his M2 on-walls sucked. Then I mounted them on the wall and the rest is history.

Might have been something wrong with the link - it seems to show *all* property for sale in Germany rather than one specific piece of property.

Hmmmm...if you do that, I'm not sure if the tweeters should be on the inside or outside. I think inside otherwise there will be some cancellation from the mid. On the other hand, you may get improved dispersion if they're placed on the outside. Best to ask Axiom.

Phil, little worried about the M2s being so high and pointing straight out ... not sure what kind of surround your aiming for.

He's Atmosing. I was worried about that too but I know nothing about Atmos. I'd think you'd want them pointed at the MLP but then again, the M2s have a wide radiation pattern.

Don't know gents. Had the same thought.

The M2OWs won't work with an articulated mount like the FMJ. I suppose you could mount a wedge to the wall and the speaker bracket to the wedge.

So, I ran out of gas and had to stop after 4. Another pair will go under each of the high side wall ATMOS speakers for surround duty. They will be at ear height.

Then a pair of front high ATMOS M2OWs, a pair of EP600s for the LFR1100As and the cooking channel will never have sounded better!

Sure are pretty.

PS looked it up ... if high ceilings should be aimed at MLP. This room has 8' ceilings. Might be OK.

Yes, I really did fall in love with the on-walls. And we're not supposed to fall in love with gear - only music. But in my mind, loving both gear and music gives me a menage-a-trois without any lingering human emotions that regretify the menageness.

Ian could have built you the OW with a fitting suitable for the FMJ. I don't think you'll have a problem though particularly given that you have another set mounted at ear-height below the sides.

I always enjoy cooking with the cooking channel while outfitted in my lime mankini and drinking sarsaparilla with a splash of dark rum.

The M2ow can be mounted with a FMB. Nick Boul was very positive on his FMB mounted M3ow.
I'm planning on mounting my M3ow using FMBs (on ceiling as top speakers).

Also the speaker setup looks more like a very high 7.1 bed setup rather than heights. Do you also have bed speakers? Since they are up ... let's see how it sounds before changing anything ...

Last edited by rrlev; 05/05/20 08:19 PM. Reason: added bed v.s. heights

Mojo, practically is not everything. There's alway a pride of ownership going on.

I paid $2000 for my navigation system in my Prius which at the time thought was outrageous ...
I could of bought a standalone unit for a tenth of that price ...

In the end, it was $2000 well spent. The dual map made the car feel like a cockpit. People noticed it. It made me feel good every time I drove it.

Feeling good about and being proud of your gear is part of the reason we enjoy this hobby so much.

I remember when I was growing up, all the wives in the 'hood had lovely little figurines, and vases, and trinkets of all kinds. No one was allowed to touch them. They weren't used for anything. Those girls sure were proud of them. Showing them off to all the other girls in the 'hood. The husbands always talked about, as they gesticulated wildly, how their dumb-ass wives were driving them effin' nuts with all these stupid trinkets. They used very colorful language from the old country.

That was at 8 years old, and my brain became permanently wired to believe practicality trumped everything. This is why I still drive my rust bucket of a Mazda - because it moves. Now of course if you can get walnut natural satin rather than vinyl along with all the practical tweeters, practical mid-woofers and practical woofers, then hell yeah. Bring it on!

I use them all! Even the wooden dao. I use it when I'm play-fighting with my friends. They don't know how to defend and I'd hate to kill them.

The art on the walls is for diffusion. The only thing I have which has no practical purpose is the bottle of sarsaparilla my high school physics teacher gave me. We used to drink sarsaparilla together. He'll always be here...with me...in that bottle. One day I will drink him.

My neighbors had lawn jockeys holding up street addresses and pink flamingos on their front lawns. I never touched them.

I think you're still allowed to have pink flamingos though I haven't seen one in years.

I have a turntable and associated equipment which I rarely have the time to enjoy.

When I was in college there was this guy who was into medieval fighting. He made him self a chainmail shirt and a few other essentials ... Every so often he'd get together with a friend who had plate mail and they take turns whacking at each other with these really heavy swords ...

He proudly displayed his mail on the wall when not in use ...

When I was 12, I'd get together with Karl, the kid across the street. We'd go into his parents' bedroom and take their pillows. Then we'd pilfer four of his dad's belts. We wrapped a belt around each pillow to act as a grip. Those were our shields.

We then stripped to our gotches. The other two belts were for flailing our exposed flesh. If you didn't block effectively, you had a welt for a week. Usually, we laughed so hard we couldn't feel anything. But one time, I thrashed him real good and caught his pre-pubescent nipple. That was it. He instantly filled his shorts with fetid feces as he howled like a wounded banshee.

Then his dad came down; he was a big German. When he saw the shields and belts and gotchy kids he lost it. He grabbed Karl by the hair and cart-wheeled him into his room. Feces everywhere! I high-tailed it out of there with his pillow and belt around my forearm. I ran home in my gotch. I could hear Karl howling in my ears.

Well that fits with the furnace filters and pillow stuffing for absorption ... smirk

My actives would be just a shadow of themselves without those furnace filters behind my MLP.
