I'm really curious to hear from Charles, Rich and Phil (and anyone else) regarding how many hours it has taken for your actives to break in.

Been away from the forums for awhile. Nice to back and reading this. I love hearing about ekeing out the last 2-3%. It’s exciting bc I’m coming at it from the other side. While I’m limited by a slow upgrade process the enjoyment of hearing what my basic system can do still amazes me. But then trying to imagine v4 anything or m100 or actives keeps me hungry for this hobby. Mojo said it best way back that starting low and working up helps you appreciate where you are at and what you’ve got.
Stoked to hear more about the m100s and actives. It’s a ways off but I’m thinking that will be my next move at some point. Until then I’m keen to live vicariously thru your guys experiences. Sweet!
Love seeing the LFR series catching on and being accepted and put thru the paces over time by consumers. It’s the best kind of feedback for potential new buyers like me.
Keep it coming!

Are you still using your old Yammy to power them?

Yeah sure. Done with upgrades. Aha. Me too.
But, I just got a pair of Balanced Audio Technology VK 56 monoblocks for the BAT VK33 preamp. Swapping out the Dr. Frankenstein's laboratory Line Magnetic Premium 845 amplifier. The VK56 uses the tubes out of the MiG 25 (the 6C33B-C, each tube weighs a little over half a pound). The transformers weigh about 18 lbs. The tubes will survive an EMP and about 12G's. Yeah, I'm set now.

Unfortunately Philip, I am not as financially endowed as you. I really did consider law school but I was too interested in STEM from a very young age. Foolish me...LOL!
I would really love to hear a tube set-up with the actives. Maybe we can do that when I come down....someday.

Hey mojo. Yup. The old yammie is going strong. I still haven’t purchased anything. I was VERY CLOSE to buying a Cambridge Audio Azure 851a. Had it saved at a shop but cancelled the purchase. I wish I had now! But work got cancelled so hard to justify it right then. I had a bit of hiatus from the audio hobby for a bit here. ( life....).
So it all went on hold , but I’m back in. It was really cool to not hear anything on the m60s for a couple months. ( I know terrible ) but then I pumped the Bruce Hornsby as per the last Axiom email and I’m stunned for the first time again!!
I just can’t seem to quite get the bass response I want ( it’s close ) without jamming the tone controls. But then it’s muddy. Pure Direct still sooooo good.
Anyway , I’m still on the hunt for more power and a DAC. ILl try to not drag my feet too much but it’s gotta be just the right thing.
But still having fun and listening to music. It’s great!!

I just got a pair of Balanced Audio Technology VK 56 monoblocks for the BAT VK33 preamp.. Philip, I surprised you have room for any more. What do you do with all the old equipment ... think some on this board would be interested in a hand-me-down or two ...

He has 7 surround systems in his bedroom alone. I love it!

Mojo, You missed the 5.1 system in the dog house and I'm not sure he has a dog! My kids will probably get my hand-me-downs ... one's in college now and the other is heading there next year. Although neither will probably be interested as one just uses his headphones and the other seems very satisfied with his internal iPhone and Mac air speakers. Makes me suspicious ... are they are my kids? Remind me to order those DNA test kits ...

My son finally became interested in loudspeakers when he heard my M5s and 800. He became convinced when he heard the M2s and actives. He's also very aware placement makes a big difference. It will be some time before he buys his own Axioms.
