Sorry guys..I was too busy setting up the system yesterday (man, do my fingers hurt from crimping all that wire and putting banana plugs!)
-----------------------------------------------------------
Here's my equipment so far:
Hardware:
Denon AVR 3805
Pioner 563A SACD/DVD-A/DVD player
Motorola 5100 (I think) HD cable box, with DVI activated.
HTPC under construction (will be based on the Accent HT-400 case)
Crappy JVC VCR (don't really use it)
Display - Pioneer Elite PRO530HD
Speakers:
Fronts - M80s
Center - VP150
Side surrounds - QS8s
Back Surrounds - still trying to decide (M2, M3, M22, ??)
Sub woofer - SVS 20-39 on its way!
Rack - Z-line Brushed aluminum and glass
Room size - About 20x20 with a 19 foot ceiling
-----------------------------------------------------------
Some notes:
- All speakers are wired with 12 gauge speaker wire from partsexpress using banana plugs.
- The cable box and DVD areconnected into the 3805 with component cables, and component out to TV. The Video passthrough/up-converting is great!
- Haven't tried s-video/composite up-coonversion yet
- Cable Box and Laptop connected using Optical cables
- 563A connected using optical AND 5.1 analog cables into the EXT-IN in the receiver, haven't tried too much SACD/DVD-A stuff yet.
Initial impressions:
- Still playing with the various components, speaker placement etc BUT from a first look perspective, HOLY SH*T! this combo is a sweet deal! The 3805 and the Axioms really play well together.
- The video part of the reeiver really makes it very easy to hook things together.
- The speakers are still being "broken into", but they are exactly as people have described, detailed, crystal clear and in my opinion not bright at all (but that's subjective).
- The VP150 is huge!, that is one BIG center channel
- haven't played with the calibration of the receiver yet, waiting on the sub before I do that.
The system is still a work in progress, once it's finished to the degree where I can show it, I'll be happy to demo the Axioms to people in the DC area, who would like an audition. I'll definately post pictures as soon as things are finished and the carpet is vaccumed!

jr - definitely BETTER than the Hotel California. Not only do I not want to leave, but there is plenty of wine here at Ray Manor and I am working on an intravenous system so I don't have the refill the glass.

I'm anticipating shipment of my Epic 80 system shortly. That's a whole lot of Axiom equipment southbound to Rockville within a week. Between the two of us maybe we can drown out the cicadas. Capn, there is the possibility of an audition, but upon review of your profile we need to discuss waivers, "hold harmless" clauses and things of that nature.
A simple search for "speaker reviews" or something similar has led me down this path. I've also added an H/K AVR 7200 and Samsung HLN437. Hope to have everything up and running soon.

I have a Samsung HLN4365W. Hope you love yours as much as I love mine. When you get your Axioms, let us know your impressions. Include the Samsung, too.

I'm very happy with the Samsung DLP. It didn't impress me at first when hooked to my DISH system but I switched to VOOM and the picture is incredible. Water shots are stunning. You could see the horses muscles bulging in the Preakness (please Smarty Jones have another 1.5 miles in you). I'm looking into a DVD player/recorder but even viewing them through my computer on this TV is a pleasure.

"spongeworthy" <- is this truth in advertising? ;-)
Looks like Smarty Jones had 1.5 miles and then some left in the tank! I hope you bet big on'em.

Spongeworthy? I would hope Ms. Benes thinks so. Didn't wager yesterday as my telephone betting account has been at $1.80 for two years now. I probably would have taken Smarty Jones and Imperialism in an exacta. Stewart Elliot made the move on the rail I thought Kent Desormeaux would make (he used to do that all the time at Pimlico) but it wouldn't have mattered if he'd been five horses wide. Right now I can't see anyone beating him in the Belmont. I'm not too sure Rock Hard Ten is a horse. Somebody should look inside for terrorists. BIG horse.

It appeared to me that Desormeaux may have had Imperialism too close, but there's still no way that horse was going to get Smarty. I reckon I'm a believer now, too.
