I have the HK 7200 and am looking for others with the same set up as I have. I am running M60's, VP 150 and QS8's w/ Hsu VTF-2. Does anyone else have this set up?

Nope sorry, I do have VP150 and Qs8's, though.

Sorry we aren't being much help to you. I'm running M60s/VP150/QS8s/STF-2, but with an Onkyo, not an HK.

JC, that should be an excellent setup; is there some specific problem or question you have?

Most of my questions are about setting the right frequencies for the different channels. Right now I have my fronts set at 60, my surrounds set at 80 and my center at 100. I believe I have the sub set at 40, when I have a choice. I also have all my speakers set to "small" which then makes the sub "sub" automatically. However, when I run the VMAX (fronts only) dsp, I have the ability to change the frequency but both the fronts and sub move in tandem. Is this normal. Should I ever set the front speakers to Large? Are these frequencies right? Would it make the fronts a bit less "bright" if I lower the frequency. Sorry I have so many questions.

You set the sub's crossover the higest crossover setting you have one of the speaker crossover, in your case, 100mhz.

My HK 525 had the same triple crossover feature and came with instructions on how to set it.

These frequencies are very low and will not affect "brightness".

I'm a little confused. Are you concerned about the "brightness" because you can hear it and it's bothering you, or are you concerned because certain reviews of these speakers state that they are bright?

I am concerned more because I can hear it. It doesnt necessarily bother me but during certain songs (sade) I dont want as much as I hear. I am sure there is a way to fix it. I tried to listen in different sound modes and Hall 2 really sounded a whole lot better. I'm still figuring it all.

Yup, a lot of stuff these days is recorded "hot" which translates to "bright" when it's played through accurate speakers. You could just turn down the treble knob a touch.

Hey there I have the AVR 7200 with M80's, VP 150, QS 8's (new, yea!!!) a HSU STF 2 and M22's as well. I have to say initially the setup sounded bright to me but after a little listening it sounds excellent. I have all the crossovers set to 80 and it is fantastic. Really notice the difference with the QS 8's in the mix even though for now I have them in the mix as back effects speakers. I like listening to music through the HK in the seven channel stereo mode. I find it gives all the speakers a great workout. Give it a little time and keep experimenting. I'm sure you'll find the sound you're looking for.
