Hi Guys,
I was pretty much set on getting the Epic Grand Master, but the wife prefers floorstanding speakers to bookshelf. The Epic 50 is almost the same price as the Grand Master - is there a considerble difference between the sounds of the M22ti and the M50's?
As well, I would probably get the QS4's for the surronds and upgrade the center to the VP150. Is the VP150 overkill for the Grand Master or Epic 50 system?
thanks

The M50 has more bass than the M22, however, the M22 has a more flat frequency response so it actually is a more accurate sounding speaker with better midrange in the frequencies above 80Hz. However, the differences are minimal and there are plenty of happy M50 owners out there. If you want the best of both worlds, you should go for the M60.

The reason I am considering the M22 and the M50's is that I am going to be putting this into a small section of an open concept living/dining room. As such, I will be at most 6-8 feet away from the TV, and I will only have maybe 7 feet between the speakers.
From what I have read, it seems the M60's need a lot of space to have a good soundstage, and I don't think I have the space.

If you stay closer to the 8' seating position, you should be fine with 7' between them.
Enjoy.

My M60s are about 7.5' apart (center to center), and I'm about 8' from each one and the TV set. I love 'em. However, at those distances, either the M22s or M50s would be OK, too.

I have my M50's only 5' ft apart from each other, and so far it's been outstanding. Of course my system is 85% home theater. If listening to music more, I'd spread them out at least 7' ft apart from each either. That's just my opinion though.

I have to second that. I was at Ajax's house this Tuesday -- yup, I went all the way to Ohio just to visit him (yeah, right!) -- and I have to agree that his M60s sound great even though they're located in room that many would call too small for them.

Pete, you are Axiom's unofficial set-up inspector . Is Jack the second or third forum denizen you have graced with your presence? Ever get near Rochester, NY?

And he's gonna be invading Tacoma TomTuttle's turf soon, too. I nominate Peter as the forum's ambassador at large (VERY large! )
