I wholeheartedly agree. When you buy an album, you should be able to make archival copies, make a copy for your car, burn tracks onto mix CD's, rip songs to your computer, etc. as long as it's for your own personal use. Copy protection schemes that don't allow you to play a disc in a computer, or rip the songs for your own use, are full of crap and will only hasten the demise of the music industry.

That and the fact that it violates "Fair Use" policies. I know that some companies have already lost their cases in several court cases for doing such things. If they keep it up it's going to be their butts stuck with the HUGE fines. It might be me, but I think that the power of the music "industry" is already dead. It seems that most decent music now has to be found by word of mouth or online and is produced by smaller, independent labels. Not the BIG guys. Gone are the days of writing for the album. *sigh*

You can blame all that on MTV. Talent doesn't matter anymore. It's what you LOOK like that count. MTV killed good music.

MTV is a joke...

i admit, theres shows on there i watch. but when it comes to music videos. nah uh. TRL is the worst show in TV history, they show people on there screaming and yelling and shots of people oustide doing the same while they play the same top 10 videos... and when they do, they play about 30 seconds of the video with people doing shoutouts in the corner during the whole thing. I think its disrespectfull to the artists ( if you wanna call em that ) to play little clips of the videos and its just stupid. think about it. WHAT is the point of that show... nothing.. exactly. sell merchandise and images. thats what.

I wouldn't know...I don't listen to either one of them. Plus I don't listen to the radio so I couldn't even tell you what bands are popular anymore. I wonder if Opeth is ever played on the radio. *scratches head*
