I will be getting pre-wire for a 5.1, but since I don't really need them to run wire for a center, I am using the run for the 6.1, which my marantz 7200 can handle, though I am not currently using.

I will be setting the surrounds, hoepfully QS8s, seven feet high with a nine foot ceiling. My question is where do i set the rear speaker? Do I st it at 7 feet as well, above the windows and same height as the surrounds (is it a rear surround?), or do i set it even to the seating area, which probably means i set it on a stand. I am thinking this as i have heard this described as a rear center channel.

Also, any recommendations on A)using another center as the rear, or B) another QS8?

Thanks

Rick

Welcome, Rocco.

I would put the rear center surround at the same height as the side surrounds. That way the surround image will be more coherent and sounds will pan better from the sides to behind you.

I'd say a third QS8 would do nicely!
