I tried for 2 movies and went with 2 M3's instead. Why? If your thinking about doing it, go for it!

I think it'd look weird, having 4 speakers across the front, blech! then there's the whole wiring thing....

I'll take my VP150 thanks

Wiring is easy...... as for looks, I like it. It's just not what "they" tell you to do!!!!!!! We have always been told by the "Experts" that you need a special speaker that is made for vocals blah blah blah it's all BS! Anything that moves away from the standard is fine with me.

James, we've got a non-conformist in Aisle 6... repeat, non-conformist in aisle 6.

How about a squirrel for a centre channel? You could probably even bi-wire it.

Now that's just darn funny too.
It seems that you and Peter are in a break neck run for forum comic of the week.

For those who continually get hung up on the centre channel vs. 'other' options, then just do this and be happy already:

Hello Kenr,

Hope you are well. Another non-conformist here, I use two M2is as my center channel in parallel. I have them on either side of my TV, and they sound fantastic. They really anchor the sound to the TV, and I no longer have to ask my Wife "what did they say?" anymore. The tweeters are at ear level, which is optimal.

I have tried 1 M2i, it was nowhere near as full sounding as two.

Later,

TonyM

Hmmm, you just solved a problem for me. I was so impressed with my M2s that I ordered a pair of M60s last night. Woke up this morning thinking "that was stupid, what are you gonna do with the M2s ?".

The M2s will probably end up as mains in an "upstairs stereo" which was the original plan -- they just sounded so good I promoted them to the main stereo in the basement. I was thinking about using the M2s as surrounds when I make the jump to 5.1 but center channel also sounds like a great idea.

Thanks for all the great ideas !!

John

Hello Bridgman,

Hope you are well. Glad that my info helped you, and they are a snap to wire in parallel, thanks to those wonderful binding posts. Plus these new TVs have no top to place a conventional center, this is a great way around that without going with an above or below ear level setup.

Later,

TonyM

I tried a squirrel but the little bugger won't sit still when my SVS got going. Must have scared the little guy or something. Not the greatest dialogue either. Everything came out sounding like Alvin. Kids loved it but overall it just didn't work out................there was also the problem with the poop...........but that is another story........................................

Hi kenr,

I am using a single M22 placed on the left side of my TV as a vertical center. Works great for me.
My thinking behind this is that since the center carries most of the sound in the movie, it should be your best speaker: and what is Axiom's best bookshelf: the M22.
I've also just ordered another pair of M22's for my front mains and am looking forward to that Holy Grail: a seamless front soundstage.

What kind of wire do you use? Do you get two separate speaker cables and jam both ends into the amp and the other end in regular fashion?

Matt, any regular speaker wire is used. Yes, the way you describe is probably the easiest to understand. Another way is to run just one wire from the amp to one speaker and then run a short length of wire from the positive terminal of the first speaker to the positive terminal of the second speaker and likewise negative of first to negative of second.
