The boxes are starting to pile up and cannot even put my QS4 stands together. Poor me…..I have a question for the experts……Please keep in mind I don’t NOTHING about this stuff or the interrelationships of different components and connections.

My DVD Player, Toshiba TV and DirecTV HDTV Box all have HDMI connections. My A/V has no HDMI. I watch a lot of DVD’s but also watch a lot of regular TV. Trying to figure out what will give me the best picture and audio from different viewing sources. Should I connect the HDMI cable from the DVD to the TV or is it better to run it from the HDTV Satellite Box directly to the TV? What difference if any will it make on my system in terms of picture and sound quality?

Thanks Again,

Scott

Here is what you need. But if that isn't in the budget, I've heard arguments that since the signal from your DirecTV box is true Hi Def, you should connect that through the HDMI (or DVI)input. DVDs are not Hi Def, and, as such, don't gain as much from the Hi Def connection. I have no idea if that's the case. I have both my cable box and DVD player connected through a DVI switch.
