I have sold the HSU VTF2 after many positive reviews. It just did not have the deep extension I used to have after I replaced my old Mirage BPS150. The BPS150 did go down to 18hz and it seemingly was louder...I guess the bigger enclosure had something to do with that and that it was a bipolar 2 x 8 inch driver...i dunno. The VTF-2 was tight and did not break up one bit but......

Anyways I have a choice to go with either EP500 or 2 SVS PB10-ISD? Any ideas guys?

current place is 16' x 12' x 16'
new place will be 25' x 23' x 10'
Have to accomodate both so I don't necessarily need to upgrade later.

I hate to say it but given the room size and from what I just learned from conversations I had with SVS about my own large room, I would go for the 2 SVS PB10-ISD without hesitation. Having 2 subs in a room that size provides some huge opportunities for tweaking to your exact seating position etc.

I'm also not convinced that the new Axiom subs match up with SVS or HSU for that matter..... Now before anyone fly's off the handle, keep in mind what I just said. I'm sure the new Axiom subs are nice. Are they SVS or HSU nice at the same price level? I have yet to see or hear anything that would make me say yes to that question.

Hey Saturn, I think both are good and would work for you, but which would be best is hard to say. Performance wise there's little to no professional reviews on either of these and I haven't seen any feedback from owners that have owned other subs to offer any relative comparisons. (including myself)

Two PB10-ISD's are certainly cheaper than a single EP500 and I'd agree with Neverhappy I have also heard about certain advantages of having two subs. And this would certainly offer some flexibility.

One approach may be to ask the SVS experts whether they think you would be better suited with either: 1) 2x's PS10-ISD or 2) a single SVS sub equivalent in price and performance to an EP500. That way you can atleast perhaps decided between a one sub or two sub system. If you decide on a one sub system then the decision becomes EP500 or an equivalent SVS... And again we'll have to wait and see what others with experience with both have to say.

One thing also, I heard mention of limitations on the connectivity of the new SVS and I don't much care for there simple finishes. These may or may not be an issue for you.

If you're not in a real rush I'd wait for some further feedback on both before deciding which way to go.

Or you could always get both and give us your impressions

Cheers, Jag

I'd go with the two SVS's, but I'm biased as I own a SVS subwoofer... Finishes matter a lot to the "older" guys I've found, because they have WAF approval to worry about, and want it to match their furniture...

If I just spent $3000 on speakers, I want them to stand out proud and look sharp! None of this "hiding it so it's not there" business...

My SVS is the same way, and surprisingly people think nothing of it if I don't mention it, they just think it's a huge ass end table

If you are looking for output, for the price of the EP500, I would look at the SVS PB-12Plus/2. IMO, it should easily beat the output of the EP500 and dual PB10's....and get you down deep.

Was there a reason you limited yourself to those two choices? If so...scratch my idea.

I never thought of that. Does it really outperform the EP500? How big is it? To bad it only comes in black.

Since no one has compared the two, it's hard to say if it does or not...

True enough but just the specs on running 2 subs speaks for itself.

No, I was talking about the PB12/2 (or whatever it is ) vs. the EP500.
