I would get the extended warranty without a doubt. Make sure it includes
the lamp!!!!!!! Here is my experience: I bought a demo Sharp projector.
I bought the extended warranty...later I moved to a location about 80 minutes
south of San Jose, CA. When the bulb got weak I called for service, I had to
wait two weeks and they were unable to find anyone who would come to my
city (Salinas) so I told the Good Guys warranty people that if you can't repair it then you have to replace it. They said they realized that. After about ten days
they called me to say they were not a Sharp dealer anymore but they were
a Yamaha dealer and they were going to replace it with a DPX-1 Yamaha front
projector. I was quite pleased as the Yamaha was a $10,000 projector at the
time and I paid $799 for the Sharp demo projector and $200 for the warranty.
I bought the extended warranty on the Yamaha and moved to Florida.
I have had the bulb replaced four times ...in home service.. This is a DLP
projector and the bulb has to be replaced every 10,000 hours.
Go for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
