Evening all,
Could someone who owns the M60ti speakers please help me out? I need to know the diameter of the binding posts on the back of your speakers.
I purchased the speaker cables and got the ¼” spade ends (since the site says that the speakers take a ¼” spade). But, the binding post on the back of my M60ti is 3/8”. Am I missing something here or is old age effecting me more than I thought?
On a side note I received my speakers Monday and they are stunning. (Warm cheery wood finish with white grills.) They go with the room very well and the finish was well worth the extra $$. Unfortunately I haven’t gotten to listen to them yet, since my receiver didn’t arrive until today. I am sure though that they will sound as good as they look!!!
Thanks for your time.

Oh it's definitely "old age" that's affecting you more than you thought. "Old age" is contagious around here. I caught it from Ray. .
I just unscrewed the outer binding post on one of my M60s (took it completely off), removed the metal jumper, whipped out my trusty ruler, and measured the gap on the jumper, which would represent the spade you would need to go around the post. The gap is, indeed, 3/8 inch. I too found the statement "Axiom speakers are designed for use with the 1/4" spade connector" on the cables web page.
If you purchased your cables form Axiom, just give them a call. They'll make it right. You might also nicely point out their error.

Thank you for the quick reply.
I called Axiom earlier, they asked me to call again in the morning. I was just making sure I wasnt having a senior moment or something. Of course if this was a senior moment it would be my first, since I dont remember having any in the past.

Well, if you ARE a senior, OF COURSE you don't remember having any senior moments in the past. You probably can't remember what you had for dinner. Or, for that matter, even if you HAD dinner. (Does anybody know if I ate today? )

The speakers will take ¼ inch spades. Just slip one of the forks into where you would normally put bare wire. Good luck!

MiniRock,
I tried attaching the cables in this way, but it just looked and felt like a poor connection. Appears to me a 3/8" spade would fit and provide a better connection. Maybe I am just being overly picky, about the whole thing. (I worked for an electrician for 4 years while in school and attaching a spade connection in this manner just rubs the rhubarb the wrong way.)
Also, the back of one of my speakers (Right front) is semi exposed to the doorway coming into my great room. Although most my friends would probably never notice how the ¼” spade was connected, a few of them would definitely notice. The back of the HT system is exposed to the same doorway, it is the main reason I am using nice terminated cables. I bought Bluejean cables for the rest of the audio and video connections. I just wanted everything to look nice and of course be functional.
I will call Axiom this morning and I am sure they will work with me. But if they don’t, well it’s not hard to remake the ends of the cables.
Take care,
Del

DelD,
The M60's binding posts, and ALL the binding posts on all of the Axiom speakers will indeed accept a 1/4-inch spade lug as well as 3/8-inch spades.
First unscrew the binding-post knob all the way, then lift up the little gold washer at the bottom. Below the threads, on the post, you will see in indent into each side of the post. That is where you put the 1/4-inch spade! See?
Brent is correct and so are the instructions. This may not be true of older Axiom models because we did change the binding posts quite awhile ago.
