Charlie, I hope I don't seem critical, and I can see with a real deep TV like the floor standing older projection type it would give you the ability to bring the center more forward. As far as brick or CBS (concrete block) that is actully best, short tap-cons, very easily (stucco patch) repaired, and it won't wobble a bit. Like I said, I like the design, I do a bit of bike (motor cycle) frame and tube mods, custom kinda wild impractical stuff at times. I just love anytime someone is thinking of new designs, I was just asking the differences to see if it's worth the T&M, maybe I am missing something. Besides, Mark's cool as hell, and he always helps me on my computer ignorance. Heck, I could not have produced that graphic id my life depended on it!!!

With connections, etc... the DLP still reasonably sits 19"~20" out from the wall, so it would have to be a deep shelf. Mostly my concern with the shelf is that it commits me to a particular location, unless I want to do a lot of plaster work to move it later or run a shelf "mantle" the whole width of the wall.

I'd love to do it in powdercoat steel, but I'm a wood guy and never learned metalworking. The design as shown was just a quick layout; the "arms" that reach out over the top would be longer and therefore the 45 degree "braces" towards the back shouldn't show at all. This will place the 150 at a good height; I can't imagine having to angle it. But if I did for some reason, I'd likely use something like these from Auralex:

MoPads

Regarding the stand at Target, read this post from earlier today: TV Stand

Mark, how ironic is that. I missed that post of yours. I also have the samsung. I also will be building a flush mount rear access rack for audio, I don't know if you will have front closet (hidden) audio rack. I am using the adjacent spare bedroom closet for rear access hook ups, wires, better ventilation, etc. It also allows me to run all monitor connections hidden along the back wall of the closet, so I have a clean flush look in the main room. I have the HLP5063 14" in depth, can you show a pic of the stand you bought in black, and is it a brushed silver. That would look good with the sammy, Then I can use beech trim on the front reveal, and door cabint trim and glass to tie it in.

You know, I didn't post this before because I didn't know anyone was interested, but as soon as I got home from Target I went to their website to grab an image of the black model...and it was gone. So was the original in the Maple finish. I searched in every which way you could imagine: categories, manufacturer, model numbers, keywords, everything. They're simply not on the site anymore; Target must be discontinuing them. Get one while you can if you want one!

I even just searched my "History" in IE... and there's many addresses I had been to under Target.com in the last two weeks that don't load now. I don't have any other answer except that they must have pulld it from the site to discontinue it!

Who's Charlie?

Mostly my center channel thing is a WAF issue. Well, and a me issue. The VP100 is just too damn tall on top of a 27" TV. It's really quite obtrusive. It's a bit less so behind the TV, or if it's flipped on its back so it's angled towards the ceiling (which doesn't do as many bad things to the sound as one might think...)

Now, I'm not saying the MoPads don't work, but this is just ridiculous:

Hey, ummmmm "Charlie"?

That's twice you've mentioned a 27" TV recently. You DO know that you should have been hinting around a couple of weeks earlier if you really expected us all to chip in and buy you a bigger one, don't you?
