Sony Music is having a sale on all of their SACD titles, here is a link to the site with a search done for SACD.

http://www.sonymusicstore.com/store/catalog/SearchAction.do?searchBy=Quick&keyword=SACD&x=16&y=8

I still need a universal player. As I can only do DVD-A on mine. If I had SACD, I would get:
John Mayer- Heavier Things
James TAylor- Hourglass & JT
Incubus- A Crow Left of the Murder
Aerosmith- Toys in the Attic

I didn't get anything "hip," or "cool." (I can hear everbody younger than 50 groaning right now!) I got:

"Anything Goes - The Music Of Cole Porter" (CD) by Yo Yo Ma & Stephane Grappelli (jazz violinist)

"We Are In Love" (SACD) by Harry Connick Jr.

"A Wonderful World" (SACD) by Tonny Bennett & K. D. Lang

AND! GET THIS! I don't even have a universal player................................................yet!

*coughs and holds up his "Time Life History of Jazz: The 1920's through 1980's*

that's right, that's a vinyl collection, 80 LP's I think...

And I'm only 21...

21 years old?!

Good to see more young audiophiles out there. It keeps the generation away from (c)rap and britany spears.

I'm 23.

LOL! Excellent choices none the less. I'm a fan of all three but then again-I'm now in the over 50 crowd.

Careful calling rap crap, there's some excellent hip-hop out there just maybe not getting much mainstream air time. One Canadian rapper getting there airtime right now is K-OS, his Joyful Rebellion CD is really good!

I'll second that. My 12 year old daughter grew up listening to daddy's music and she can pick out songs off the radio and name the groups just as fast as me in most cases. I quiz her all the time (who is this?) and she can pick out Kansas,Zeppelin,Bowie,Ozzy,ACDC,YES, Rush, and the list goes on. She likes everything from 50's stuff to New hip hop junk.

HEY RAY! We got another old goat in the club! YAY! I used to call my brother, who is 9 years older than I, the "king of the over-the-hill mob." All that stopped when I joined the mob.

Yeah, it really hit me the other day when a team Capitan asked me to join his USTA "seniors" tennis team.

At that moment, I pictured myself in my youth and then my minds eye began to race in fast forward from then to the present. It was like an out of body experience. But I'm OK with it. All things considered, I'm enjoying life more than ever.

Wow, I was reading the review and BAM "..... after I let them break in for a week...". He lost me right there. Nice review, relatively accurate comments, but break-in? Ah well.

Anyhow - Jack, the Gray Panther movement grows in the Axiom Army ranks. We should get together and take a nap. mwc - welcome to the land of the varicose vein set. If needed, I can point you to a site where you can acquire a 40 lb Viagra lick. It's mounted on wheels and can be pulled all around the house. Jack swears by it (or at it, I never get that right).

The review was good.

Except:
"After setting the speakers up, I let them break in for the better part of a week before sitting down for any serious listening. All my listening was done with the grilles removed, allowing me to see the attractive silver-colored drivers."

The dreaded speaker break-in topic....

Hey I am 23 also. And there are a lot of really great rock bands out now, so don't knock new music.

However, many of them sound (audio-wise) absolutely awful. It really makes me mad how bad a lot of modern music sounds with revealing speakers like my M22's.

So our neighborhood progressive dinner ends last night and we send our gusts home completely sated just after midnight. I sit down and start flipping through the Satellite channels and come across a 2004 Doobie Brothers (most of the originals) concert from Wolf Trap. My wife hears it, wanders into the room and sits down. I turned it up and we werre enthralled until 1:30 AM.

I was not much of a Doobie Bros. fan when they were popular, but this concert was terrific and they sounded great. Very ecelectic music selection and I was surprised at what good musicians they are.

I was never a big fan either but I agree with what you are saying.

When bray came to visit me for a listening session, he brought along some Doobie Bros. and some of the tunes just floored me because: 1. it was great musicianship and 2. there were some tunes that were out of character (in my mind) of the Doobies that I didn't expect from them. Good stuff.

Uh.....guys. I have some strong opinions about todays' rap/pop music but that wasn't me who said that it was crap.

It was that young whippersnapper, ravi.

Well, I just bought a Denon 2200 and then bought the 4 titles I mentioned above. I will likely make my way to Best Buy as well to pick up some of the new Elton John SACDs.

And finally, I can listen to my Dark Side of the moon SACD properly. After supporting DVD-A for the last 3 years, I am finally jumping on the SACD bandwagon.

I finally got my Denon 2910. Thank god for Bass management, what an improvement. This is one awesome unit. I now own these SACDs:

Aerosmith:Toys in the Attic
Incubus:A Crow Left of the Murder
Elton John: Madman Across the Water
Elton John: Goodbye Yellow Brick Road: Deluxe Edition
John Mayer: Heavier Things
Nine Inch Nails: The Downward Spiral: Deluxe Edition
Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon
James Taylor: Hourglass
The Who: Tommy: Deluxe Edition

All the Universal Deluxe Editions are on sale at Best Buy. They are usually $27.99 there, but are on sale at from $16.99 to $19.99. I could not pass up purchasing these great titles. All are absolute winners in SACD and very cool packaging too.

Also, if you dont own any of the Elton John SACD's, and you are at all a fan, you must buy them. Madman, especially with Tiny Dancer and Levon, is amazing. The spaciousness that is given to Elton's voicce in 5.1 is amazing. I hope to pick up Elton John and Honky Chateau when I can find them. Unfortunately I am not that familiar with the songs on Tumbleweed Connection or Captain Fantastic.
