I may need to reposition my VP150 above my plasma. Rather than use a shelf, I'd like to consider the FMB. However, considering that the VP150 is listed at about 17 lbs., it seems kind of heavy for a 2 bolt wall mount. I'd hate to have that VP150 come crashing down on my plasma...

Has anyone tried this?

I understand that I could possibly use 2 FMB's but I'd rather use one (if I go this route) because it already has the mounting hole on the back of the VP150.

Just be sure to find a stud, and use longer screws than supplied (3" maybe?).

Amie and Ian use an FMB for each of their VP150s, afaik.

Just the other day, somebody posted a pic of a VP150 mounted on an FMB in an entertainment center. But, since I'm old, I can't remember who, where, or when. (Man, this being old crap is a wonderful "out" )

I bought a FMB with full intentions to mount my VP150 to the ceiling once I am ready. I made sure that when I was finishing that area in my basement, I put a stud right where I wanted to mount the center of the speaker. I will be using longer screws than those supplied as well, and probably pre-drill the holes first just to make sure that there is NO chance of splitting the wood stud. I know it shouldn't happen, but I am nervious too about the heavy VP150 held by a couple of screws...

More interestingly is that the FMB attaches to the VP150 by using only a single bolt (the one that you see on the back of the VP150)...

I used the FMB to mount my VP150 above my Samsung HLN-507W 50" DLP rear projection HDTV. It works fine.

However -- the FMB mounting holes MUST be into a wall stud. If no wall stud is available, you should mount a horizontal board behind the VP150, spanning two wall studs and drill into that.

In theory you could use some fancy dry wall anchors. Some are rated for that much weight, but I wouldn't trust them considering what's at stake.

Cool, just wanted to see if it was "safe".

I'm pretty good w/ DIY. I always mounts shelves, speakers, etc on studs w/ anchors rated at twice the weight. It just seems like a lot of weight on the vertical plane.

No problemo Ken, I was just kidding around anyway...take your time man, heck I dated my wife for about 4-5 years before we even talked about getting engaged. Then we waited 2 years to tie the knot, and then 5 more to have our first boy. Dang am I really 37 already, can't believe it.

Oh well, as long as my wife lets me get the 40th Anniversary SS Camaro I know will be coming out in 2007 if GM gets there head out of their a$$. That would make 3 for me, first a 81 Berlinetta, then a 91 RS, and then my 2007, I only wish I could still get a 69 RS/SS convertible...

Are they going to do a new Camero? That would be sa-weet! I admit, I'm still more of a European car guy, but I've always liked American muscle cars, too. Ah, hell, I just like cars.

A friend of mine has a pristine '69 Camaro SS. I have no idea how she got that, when her brother got the, uh, significantly less than pristine '72 Chevelle. Course, she probably had a better job or something...

I follow a lot of GM and other car forums. There a lot of rumors going around from people that supposably have people on the inside at GM who have hinted. I think it only makes sense, it was dumb for GM to drop the Camaro and Trans AM/Firebirds a few years ago. Pontiac came out with the GTO last year again, great engine, but the body did nothing for me. The 2005 GTO is a little better, they added hood scoops and changed the rear exhaust look and Rumble like the old goat (gto). In addition, they are now putting in a 400 HP Corvette similar engine in the GTO.

I just think it makes totally sense for Camaro to do this for a couple of reasons:
It would be the 40th anniversary of the Camaro
I'll be turning 40 in 2007, yuck.
Rumors are that it will be introduced in May of 2007, my birthday is in May.

I can see Mid-Life crisis written all over this one...the trick is to talk my wife into it....

ps: the new Mustang GT is pretty cool, with 300 HP and a totally retro look like the old Steve McQueen Bullet movie where he drove a Fastback Stang. This spring Ford is introducing a convertible version...The dash and inside is just to cool.

I almost forgot, you mentioned the 72 Chevelle, have you ever watched Dazed and Confused? My favorite line from that movie is when Mathew McConeghay (Wooderson) said "Let me tell ya what Melba Toast is Packin" I think it was an early 70's Chevelle, might have been a 69, I can't remember.

Yeah, I saw the prototype for the Mustang in Road & Track, and said, "If they build that thing looking like that, they'll sell billions..." I hope Chevy does the Camaro right. Just don't let the Pontiac designers anywhere near it...

The GTO is an impressive vehicle, but even with the new body style, it's just dull. They should pay a bit of attention to the Chrysler 300C or the Dodge Magnum (same deal, I know.)

have ya'll seen that new Pontiac GTO? they did kinda like ford did with the new mustangs.. they mixed a little of the old, with a little of the new. the dang thing looks pretty awesome. the specs say it does 0-60 in 4.7 seconds.. ? thats pretty quick off the line. i am sure they have tightened up the suspension and gave it better handling, but i would bet it still feels like a big chunk of metal compared to the foreign jobbies.. either way, i still love that big, aggresive stance of the american muscle car..

BTW- i had to laugh when i saw the new GTO with the big hood scoops.. HELLO.... its fuel injected... true case of fashion over-riding function..

You just have to do what I do around my wife: I just say things like "I feel a mid life crises coming on..... What to do...What to do..... A Corvette or some slinky little blonde....Hmmmmm, what to do....?"

In regards to the Ford/GTO thing. I think the Stang looks much better and is more retro than the GTO. I like the GTO's 400hp engine and the interior is just WAY cool. However I was a little disapointed with the exterior. To me it looks like a Grand Am or Grand Prix. The 2005 is much better than the 2004 model. The added hood scoop, available body facia, dual exhaust, and GTO logos look pretty cool. Also, the sound the exhaust makes at idle, acceleration, shifting, sounds just like the old GTO goats of the 60's.

If you guys have highspeed internet, check out the Mustang on Fords website, they have some video footage/sound of the stang getting spanked hard, it sounds awesome and looks pretty cool. I like the Steve McQueen video, where the guy makes a race track out of his corn field and McQueen punishes that pony car....

Unfortunately I dont think GM has it in them to produce a nice looking Camaro. I wouldnt buy the last generation because of styling, seating position and comfort issues, it seemed strangely proportioned from inside the car. GM did a nice job with the Vette but I am not holding my breath on a new Camaro, I pretty much gave up on them when they dropped the Camaro, and am now even considering buying a Mustang much to all my friends dismay. Why cant they make a nice looking car? Any car? Has anyone seen the Malibue, Impala, Cavalier that is a truly horrible lineup. If that is the best they can do they might as well give up now. Even the trucks are butt-ugly.

I agree with you on some of the car comments, but I love my 2000 Z71 Silverado with 3" body lift. I will agree that I don't like the headlights on the newer trucks, makes me think they were built in China or Japan, no pun intended as my Aunt is Japanese...

OK, you guys took this way OT w/ the car thing. Now I have add my 2 cents.

Went to the SF car show in Nov. Some of the American cars are looking very nice.

Mustang GT - looks good in some colors. I can't recall if the did a "bullit" green version though, that'd be cool.

Ford GT - If I had the FU money, I'd buy that. Big, American, and beefy.

Chevy Nomad - VERY cool, too bad it's only proto now.

The Cadillac V12 proto (can't recall the exact name) - Man, that's a big car. Nice interior too.

Dodge Magnum/Chrysler 300C - A tuner company called Dub tricked them out w/ big rims. I thought they looked cool. Me, I'd go w/ the Hemi AWD Magnum wagon.

McClaren SLR Benz - SWEET, I like the doors.

Audio related story: I was standing near some cars and hear some live Jazz. I thought that was kind of cool to have a live band there. But I was wrong. The back door of the new Maybach was open and they were playing the car stereo. Standing next to that car, the sound rivals many home audio systems. It was phenomenal.

I mounted my VP150 with the FMB. I posted pix some time ago-if you want to check through my posts it was called Pix from Minnesota. I was able to hit a wall stud and the FMB worked wonderfully. I used 3 inch screws and was satisfied that the speaker was very secure.
