IIRC, the pic quality on the matrix wasn't that great on my setup easier. I'd try another disc, maybe one of the star wars or later pixar films?

which Matrix was it, the original DVD from 1999, or the new Ultimate Matrix Collection version?
The original matrix DVD was not well reviewed for picture quality back in 1999, it definitely will not hold up well today. However, the new Ultimate Matrix collection DVD is supposed to be a reference quality transfer (I have not actually seen it myself).
Also, do not use Star Wars Ep 1, one of the worst picture quality discs ever. I find it almost unwatchable on my 38" screen due to all the edge enhancement.

Thanks a ton for responding - I was using the Old Matrix DVD.
Now I'm positive that it's not the TV but the quality of the disc.
