Ok, I have been slowly putting together a nice sound system. I have a pair of M60's in the front, and the other speakers I have are good. The one area I am clueless in is the sub woofer area. I have a PRO SW-200P 200-Watt Powered Subwoofer. It’s a radio shack. I got it at a good price a few years back. I am now in a position to upgrade if I wish but I do not know enough about subs to know if I need to. I listen to a lot of music, but also watch movies with a lot of action. If I were to get an Axiom sub would the difference be very noticeable?
The specs for my current one are
SPECIFICATIONS
Amplifier output ........... 200 W RMS (4 Ohms @ 1% THD)
Crossover .......... 50 Hz–200 Hz Variable
Frequency Response ........ 36 Hz–200 Hz
Power Voltage ..... AC 120 V/60 Hz
Power Consumption .... 120W
Dimensions (HWD) . 16 ´ 16 ´ 16 in. (407 ´ 407 ´ 407 mm)
Weight ..45 lbs (20.412 kg)

By the way the M60's are awesom. My best investment to date.

That sub can only play down to 36hz. You might want something that can go down to 25hz.

Hey mj, welcome.

Player8 is right; there is a LOT of content in movies below 36Hz, and from what you posted, we really don't know how flat your current sub is to that frequency.

Any of the offerings from Axiom, Hsu or SVS will likely make a very noticable difference to your HT enjoyment.

Browse the forums a while; somebody starts a new sub thread about every 2 hours.

How big is your room?

the axiom subs are good. also, check into SVS and HSU. you will most definitely find a sub from any of them that will blow what you have now out of the water.

Frequency response is a measure of the speakers accuracy and ability to reproduce sound throughout the audible spectrum (20Hz - 20kHz).

Crossover frequency is a point (e.g. 80Hz) in the audio spectrum where the duty of reproducing a certain range of sound switches from one driver (e.g. a woofer) to another (e.g. subwoofer).

May also want to throw in the Outlaw Audio sub. I have one and it is a very nice unit.
