The 850 is a bit more expensive because it combines IR and RF (the older 700 and 800). Also, the 850 hasn't shown up as a discounted/open-box item yet. Aside from the revised thumb pad and the combined IR/RF, the 850 doesn't really differ from the 700. To use the RF, you need to buy the RF relay as well.

I actually received it and started programming it a week or so before I received my speakers. I do love it, for it's geek-ness as much as it's utility. My wife really likes the macros I've programmed to turn everything on and switch things and the like. Ray helped immensely via PM's. He is the Avatar of MX.
